Whatever your view on it may be, the "law enforcement" in the USA is fucking stupid and this isnt how this should of been handled.
Haven't read anything about it, so just going off the video and nothing else. Stupidity all around. What idiot opened the air rifle and left it on the shelf? What employee didn't move it? Why did the guy think it would be a good idea to carry it around the store loose? I worked at KMart many years ago and when we sold a rifle or shotgun we always had to walk it to the door for the customer even in package. Why did he spend several minutes playing with it in corner of the store? It looked like he was either pretending to shoot at the stuff on the shelf or doing juggling flares like the Marine rifle display thing. Why does it appear the the cops shot first and asked questions later?

Just stupid after stupid leading to a horrible end. :(

Smile: I went to my first real appointment with my new gender therapist today. It feels good to actually be moving towards actual progress.

Frown: The only time I could get an appointment was right when they opened at 8 AM, which meant I had to get up at 6 AM in the rain and navigate between buses for an hour and a half both ways in order to get to their office. :/

 Goodbye Playstation Home. It maybe silly, but I spent a lot of time and money in that world. I made a lot of friends and had tons of amazing experiences (especially with the alternate reality game [Xi]). Here's to hoping that they create another great social experience with Project Morpheus.

May seems silly to most people to like a social game like this, but I've been "playing" them since I was ten. It was always a good way for me to escape the real world.
I think PS Home would have been a lot more successful if they integrated it into the console's OS like Microsoft did with the Xbox 360's avatars. If you remind people that Home existed every time they started up their consoles by bringing elements of it into the UI, then it would have done much better. I really liked that group movie feature that Home had, for the record. I wish they hadn't thrown away that concept on the 360's Netflix app. :(

Seriously, that's awesome. Kudos to Luke for posting a picture of a child on the internet and calling him soul-less.

Sorry Luke, you have to admit it is in poor taste. Perhaps this health issue is stressing you more than you admit? Consider this and the tampon comment, they both seem a bit extreme and a bit out of character. Think about your own comments about posting things "kids will have to live with" when they grow up. Not a good look dude. I hope it is just some misdirected blowing steam. If not, and you truly feel like that, your sister deserves the grief...not the kid.

Edit: I think he's a cute kid too. He looks like a mini Oliver Platt.

I am recently addictied to adding connections on LinkedIn, and since I converse with the regular members here as much as anyone else, I thought I would see if anyone on here would like me to send them an invitation. If so, please send me a PM! (Otherwise, I will have order random games from your B/S/T threads to obtain your true identities (and, of course, more random games)! )

I genuinely thought the kid thing was funny. Making fun of kids is not taboo, and when done with the appropriate amount of hyperbole can be hilarious. I am sure Luke bears no ill will towards the kid and that he'd be the first to blame the parents for what the kid is shaping up to be…but nothing in comedy should be "sacred" and picking on an assholish kid for being an asshole is not a big deal.

I mean, we have movies based around the premise that kids can be assholes, right?

And one of Carlin's best bits…

"Something else I'm getting tired of is all this stupid bullshit we have to listen to all the time about children. That's all you hear in this country. Children. Help the children. What about the children? Save the children. You know what I say? I say fuck the children. Fuck 'em. They are getting entirely too much attention. And I know what you're thinking. You're saying 'Jesus he's not going to attack children is he?' Yes he is. He's going to attack children. And remember this is Mr. Conducter talking. I know what I'm talking about…
I also know all you single dads and soccer moms who think you’re such fucking heroes aren’t gonna like this, but somebody’s gotta tell you for your own good, your children are overrated and overvalued. You’ve turned them into little cult objects, you have a child fetish, and it’s not healthy! Don’t give me that weak shit “well, I love my children!” Fuck you! Everybody loves their children, doesn’t make you special. John Wayne Gacy loved his children... kept them all right out on the yard near the garage. That’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is this constant mindless yammering in the media, this neurotic fixation that somehow, everything, EVERYTHING has to be revolved around children. It’s completely out of balance.

Listen, there are a couple of things about kids that you have to remember. First of all, they’re not all cute! Okay? In fact, if you look at them close, some of them are rather unpleasant-looking. And a lot of them don’t smell too good either; the little ones in particular seem to have a kind of urine and sour milk combination or something. Stay with me on this, the sooner you face it, the better off you’re gonna be.

Second premise, not all children are smart and clever. Got that? Kids are like any other group of people; a few winners, a whole lot of losers! There are a lot of loser kids out there who simply aren’t going anywhere and you can’t save them all, you can’t save them all, you gotta let them go, you gotta cut them loose, you gotta stop overprotecting them cause you’re making them too soft. Today’s kids are way too soft. For one thing, there’s too much emphasis on safety; child-proof medicine bottles and fireproof pajamas, child restraints in car seats, and HELMETS! Bicycle, skateboard, baseball helmets! Kids have to wear helmets now for everything but jerking off! Grown-ups have taken all the fun out of being a kid just to save a few thousand lives. It’s pathetic! It’s pathetic! What’s happening is- what’s happening, you know what it is? These baby-boomers, these soft, fruity baby-boomers are raising an entire generation of soft, fruity kids who aren’t even allowed to have hazardous toys for Christ’s sakes! Hazardous toys, shit, whatever happened to natural selection? Survival of the fittest? The kid who swallows too many marbles doesn’t grow up to have kids of his own! Simple as that! Simple! Nature! Nature knows best. We’re saving entirely too many lives in this country of all ages. Nature should be allowed to do its job of killing off the weak and sickly and ignorant people without interference from airbags and batting helmets! Just think of it as passive eugenics okay?

Now here’s another example of overprotection. Did you ever notice on the TV news every time some guy with an AK-47 strolls onto a school yard and kills 3 or 4 kids and a couple of teachers, the next day, the next day, the school is overrun with counsellors and psychiatrists and grief counsellors and trauma therapists trying to help the children cope? Shit! When I was in school, someone came to our school and killed 3 or 4 of us; we went right on with our arithmetic! “35 classmates minus 4 equals 31.” We were tough... we were tough. I say if kids can handle the violence at home, they ought to be able to handle the violence in school. I’m not worried about guns in school. You know what I’m waiting for? Guns in church. That’s gonna be a lot of fun and it’ll happen, you watch, some nut will go fucking ape-shit in a church and they’ll refer to him as a “disgruntled worshipper.”

Here’s another bunch of ignorant shit... school uniforms. Bad theory; the idea that if kids wear uniforms to school, it helps keep order. Don’t these schools do enough damage making all these kids think alike? Now they’re gonna get them to look alike too? And it’s not a new idea; I first saw it in old newsreels from the 1930s, but it was hard to understand cause the narration was in German!

One more item about children and that is the superstitious nonsense that blames tobacco companies for kids who smoke. Listen, kids don’t smoke because a camel in sunglasses tells them to, they smoke for the same reasons adults do because it relieves anxiety and depression. And you’d be anxious and depressed too if you had to put up with these pathetic, insecure, striving, anal, yuppy parents who enroll you in college before you’re old enough to know which side of the playpen smells the worst! And then they fill you full of Ritalin and then drag you all over town in search of meaningless structure; little league, club scouts, swimming, soccer, karate, piano, bagpipes, water colors, witchcraft, glass blowing, and dildo practice. They even have play dates for Christ’s sakes; playing is now done by appointment! Whatever happened to “you show me your wee-wee and I’ll show you mine?” Hey, no wonder kids smoke; it helps... not as much as weed but hey, you can’t have everything. You know it’s true; parents are burning these kids out on structure. I think every day; all children should have three hours of daydreaming. Just daydreaming – you could use a little of it yourself by the way – just sit at the window, stare at the clouds, it’s good for you. If you wanna know how you can help your children, leave them the fuck alone!"

EDIT: Sorry, looked very long on my phone.

I understand that some people feel like that. Carlin was a great comedian...but don't try and tell me that if someone here started ragging on your kid and calling him ugly and shit that you wouldn't be upset. Not to mention that I don't think a child barely old enough to qualify as a toddler was the intended target of Carlin's intention.

Anyway, I realize Luke was most likely joking and this is why I didn't say something like "You're an asshole". I doubt he meant any malice with it and I meant to convey that in my post. Apologies to Luke if it didn't come across that way. While "nothing should be sacred in comedy" I would bet that if I started making racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise inappropriate jokes there would be some raised eyebrows no matter how much hyperbole they contained. So, I was just pointing out that it might not be in the best taste to post an actual picture of the kid on the webs and hate on him (even jokingly) and being ugly is a stupid thing to make fun of someone for anyway. Even if it were true, it is not the kid's fault how he looks.

Without an actual picture, without the scolding of his appearance, simply the hyperbole and some anonymity and I'm on the same page as you. Notice that Carlin focuses just as much on what the parents are doing to cause the problems.

This is way more in depth than I meant to go into it.
