It's been a bit too long since I've played God of War to be precise, but yeah it's close. There is an interesting mechanic where you can shift between a light or dark state when attacking to steal either health or magic power. Adds a bit of depth.Xeogred wrote:How's the combat? It falls into the same category, but so does a lot of stuff. It doesn't usually come across as original (some bosses are very close to Shadow of the Colossus for instance), but it's very well done throughout.Xeogred wrote: How's the combat? Main thing I would echo is that it's a long game, and the combat system takes a while to really open up. It's got a light/dark magic system to utilize that takes a while to gain access to, for instance. ~10 hours in, plenty of games would be about over, and LoS is maybe half done (especially if you count the DLC), and finally hitting its stride.
Personally I found that some of the aspects I didn't like more or less went away after the first few hours (capturing enemies to ride/break down walls/etc).

Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 2.
I'm right at the level where Civil War starts. Pretty fun, but I do hate the fact that the Hulk and the Thing are basically the same character. Boo.

The Shadow of the Colossus boss types have kinda peaked my interest for this game. It's length is kinda intimidating for a game of its genre though.isiolia wrote:It falls into the same category, but so does a lot of stuff. Yeah, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is kind of a cross between God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. It has fast-paced action, but it's not as aggressive as God of War. It's a long and beautiful mythical journey, but not quite as lonely and introspective as Shadow of the Colossus.

Well, I may have solved my problem by starting up Road Trip (aka Choro Q HG 2) and playing for like 6 hours straight this evening. Why is this game so addictive?

Personally, GoW is x10 better than Castlevania: LoS. It does have some Shadow of the Colossus elements to it, but again, SotC is the superior game in this case.Xeogred wrote:How's the combat? I played the game mainly due to me being a huge Castlevania fan. Overall it's an average game.
As for myself, I just started Solstice (NES). The intro music is great! The controls are going to take some getting used to.

Tried Counterspy today on PS4. It sucks. It's basically a stealth game that won't let you be stealthy
That becomes quite clear at the end of the very first level
Struggling to remember last time I played a game on PS4 that didn't suck

Randomly generated levels
Stealth games are supposed to be methodical. Nothing should be random

As long as they have certain rules in place, I don't see why you couldn't do randoms.Gamerforlife wrote:Randomly generated levels![]()
