What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

I feel like even though I liked the futuristic stuff the series has done lately that I always got the impression that most people wished they'd go back to the roots of the series. (Like Wolfenstein, Doom successfully have as of late). And now they're doing that so I figured more people would be excited. At any rate - I will plan to play CODWWII.
It's just hilariously ironic to see them pull this card after BF1 did it. So I don't know about you and others, but what could have been surprising if they did this earlier, isn't surprising in the least.

Could be interesting, but chances are it'll be another C-tier shooter with modern day celebrities pulling you out of the setting and an Eminem rap for the credits roll. Predicting it now!

I don't disagree with you on this one. Yeah.

I will play it, though. I'm sure I'll have fun enough for the six or whatever hours the single player campaign will have.

If you haven't played Far Cry 2 yet, you really should. It's set in a fictional civil war in Africa, yes, but it's such a contrasting locale to most of what we see, and all of the playable characters are themselves mercenaries from colonized or formerly colonized countries.

Well, I figured I'd give a brief update on Painkiller Overdose. Or not in this particular case. I booted up the game recently only to discover that apparently all of the auto saves on the particular level I had reached cause the game to crash when loading. I knew this one was gonna give me trouble when I first started it and it took even longer to load than the already abysmal load times the game suffers from. At this point it feels like the game is actively trying to make me dislike it.

I have not played it, but that sounds EXACTLY like the kind of game I usually look for. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

How about a Korea game? And maybe it has an alternate scenario where Truman lets MacArthur do his job.

So one where we repeatedly nuke China? Yeah, I just don't see that game coming out.

Yeahhh, I think Korea went fairly well the way it actually turned out, all things considered.

Oh yeah, I forgot China's become a pretty big media market these days.

Bashing this series is one of the great myth-narratives that permeate modern gaming (also shootin` cod in a barrel, so to speak :) If you were an alien who`s never heard of it and read some comments/reviews you`d think it`s a 2/10 broken mess - whereas in reality all their games were at worst fairly solid and at best standard-setting. So whatever they do, it`s a lose-lose situation. Go back to WW2? You copy Battlefield. More Black Ops? No innovation. Try the future? But we want WW2 :)

Of course there are problems - general tiredness after bashing out a title every year, the MP model or questionable SP campaigns. But are these any different than other shooters? I wouldn`t say so. Are map packs so much worse than micro$? I can`t say, for me the whole new MP paradigm - be it grind till you bleed or pay up is a joke anyway. I`m a die hard MP-style fanatic from the days of Quake 2 and can not sanction such foolery. Which is also the reason I have no time for the new Quake.

As it is I`m actually playing Infinite Warfare SP atm and quite enjoying it, for what it is. Sure, they should take a year or two break, maybe get a new engine, etc ...but since it was still the best selling console game of 2016, even despite Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 being "better", why would they?

I still need to play Infinite Warfare. I got it for Christmas, but never got around to it as other games had diverted my attention. But I did enjoy Advanced Warfare a lot.
