Hello! My name is Adam, 25.
I work construction. I am a active member on the dragonballfigure forum. I'm on a quest to find information at the least on my Gameboy game. 15+ forums later, here I am. I've literally asked everyone, except you! :) This is why I decided to join up.
This forum is massive! It's a gamers paradise. I do believe I will be an active member. It's so informative I would recommend this to others!

Welcome!

I notice you are into both dbz and ccgs. Did you ever have the chance to play the old dbz tcg? It is still one of my favorites to this day.

Also, good luck with the hunt for info on that GB stuff, you've definitely come to the right place.

Hey guys. Introducing myself, pretty new here and just ran into a Google search when I was trying to start out collecting.

I mostly have N64/SNES/NES stuff. Mostly from my own childhood. I also have some very limited Atari 7800 stuff from when I was very young.

I am 29 year olds and have my own place and my wife is very accepting of my habit. I am not a hoarder at all and am usually the opposite with most anything else, but just love collecting old games.

Lately, I've been trying to opportune on Wii stuff because it seems like it's cheap and very available. I've gotten a bunch of cheap games off Amazon and am usually just swapping out the fungus filled cases they send me (complete) with replacements from Nintendo.

Any hints besides the articles here on bolstering a new collector for the most bang for the buck is definitely appreciated. Don't really "collect" PS4 or 360 games though I have a 360. Mostly use a gaming PC for that gen on.

Welcome to Racketboy! If you're looking for bang for your buck, I always recommend garage sales or other collectors. If you don't mind getting up early and/or emailing every craigslist garage sale posting beforehand to see if they have games, you can get some incredible deals (some personal examples include River City Ransom for $2, complete Batman: Return of the Joker for $2.50, and Herc's Adventure for $5), and since you usually get stuff in lots, you can sell/trade any stuff in the lot you don't want. And other collectors are great sources. Befriend a few, let each other know what you're looking for, and you'll spread your search radius quite a bit. And collectors often give each other decent deals too. Hoped this helped, and once again welcome!
Systems owned: Odyssey, Commodore 64, Apple II+, Intellivision II, Atari 2600, Leisurevision, Atari 400, Vectrex, Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, Turbografx-16, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii U, PS1, PS2, PS3.

Finally signing up for Racketboy. I've lurked here off and on over the years.

I'm 27 years old. I got back into collecting about 5 years ago when I started trying to pick up every Mega Man game. That has since expanded to grabbing just about everything I can get my hands on right now. I've also started a pretty good collection of Development hardware.

Some of you may know me as Teancum elsewhere I've been fairly active on Assemblergames.

Greetings and salutations!!! Mega Man fan eh? Are you sticking to simply american releases of Mega Man or are you going into the strange and obscure like the FMV QTE game for the Saturn in Japan? What Mega Man game do you feel is honestly the best? I am a huge fanatic of the Mega Man Legends series, although I would never discount the sheer awesomeness and difficulty that the original and X series provide, they just do not capture my imagination like Legends does.

As for Dev Hardware? What does your collection look like? I am curious to know as I have never really gotten into the dev hardware scene and, quite honestly, never knew anyone in that scene. Once again, welcome and don't be shy!

Welcome as well! I as well am a collector who has stuck to almost exclusively games that I procured in my youth, which may not sound too good, but we are talking the must haves for Sega Saturn, a hefty Dreamcast collection, Sega Genesis, Sega CD and classic PC stuff up the wazoo. You are right to start to cash in on the Wii stuff, as there are tons of quality titles that you can get pretty inexpensively and are a blast to play.

I mimic smoogy's sentiment and suggest hitting up garage sales. That seems to be a very very good place for me. I got a ton of NES games for pennies including games like River City Ransom, Dragon Warrior III and much much more for almost nothing. If you have any Flea Markets, check them regularly. A lot of the indoor dedicated game stalls tend to be about market price, but once in a while you may find a gem and the outdoor stalls are where you find the steals. Got me Soul Edge, CIB genesis Aladdin and Bushido Blade all for $5 recently.

You may also find stuff at your retro game store. Again, the prices are roughly around market value, but sometimes, again, you find gems. I just scoped out a new place that opened up near me and they had a CIB Enemy Zero for the saturn for $30. Snagged that right quick.

Yeah Mega Man is where all the madness began. I decided that I was going to try and collect every Mega Man game. So I started hitting up yahoo auctions japan and noticed (at the time at least) that the japanese games were a lot cheaper to import then to import on ebay. So I did an order. So I do have that obscure FMV Rockman game for the Saturn (Super Adventure Rockman) IF I HAD to pick a favorite I would probably go with Mega Man X or X2. Although I have to agree that Legends was a nice change of pace while still keeping the Mega Man feel.

As for the dev hardware I'll have to take some pics (to be fair this has been on my list of things to do for months.) As for a quick sampling I have Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PS1, Nintendo DS, Wii, Gamecube, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast dev hardware. You did just give me an idea for a picture I could take though. I think I'll see how much of my stuff I can fit on one table.

Hello everyone!

I've been luring around here a while and finally decided to sign up.

I have been a gamer ever since I was very young in the late 80s. I grew up playing the NES, then the SNES, N64, PSX, and so on and so forth. I am now married and recently had my first child and I continue to feed my gaming and retro game collecting obsession. :)

I current boast a collection 70+ NES, 110+ N64, 20+ SNES, 20+ Genesis games as well as many others from various systems. I am always looking to buy, trade, and sell to get what I want.

I am from Michigan and started up a small trading group for fellow residents of the mitten: www.facebook.com/groups/1447206008888857/

I look forward to conversing with all of you. Take care!

Howdy! Welcome to the forums! I like your handle. Is it a reference to the movie or the band?
