Thanks all for the condolence and kind words. Here's the story in today's Iowa City paper (where I did my PhD) that gives a nice overview of his work and legacy: http://www.press-citizen.com/story/news ... /15478573/
Does seem like a giant, as you say. I'm sure he will be missed by more than you. Hope you find something to help cope!

Well I must be a saint then.

I'm not going to state my name on a public forum but I will say that I have the same name (minus the middle name) as the seventh man who walked on the moon, a Georgia Congressman, and a six-time Ironman triathlon winner.

Luke wrote::lol: So I'm listening to a Maddox podcast, and he says "The more syllables in your name, the bigger chance of you being an asshole". That and "Hyphenated names are for assholes". .

The second part is kind of funny. The first part is backwards I think...

Sorry in advance for all those who don't fit the bill but I have known so many guys named Brad, Mark, Rick, and yes Luke (sorry) and they were usually assholes. Not insinuating anything about people on the forums these are real world characters. I can't think of a single asshole with a multiple syllable name that I know personally, excepting that asshole name Christophercaranilius (He is the worst).

Coincidences I'm sure, but a conspiracy theorist may beg to differ.

Truthfully they were probably, Bradley, Marcus, Richard, and Lucas since their assholery was worthy of at least two syllables. I myself have three syllables and only my family, friends, and strangers consider me an ass.

These are real dudes I know, it is just a coincidence that forum members share the same name. Any similarities real or imagined are strictly a coincidence. Names of assholes may have been changed to protect the identity of the innocent.

Not many!

But people thinking my last name is my first name... That happens constantly.

I used to work with a guy that had seemingly flip flopped names, not just "two first names".
