I don't know very many people in SA (well I didn't nkow very many people in Austin either) but everyone I've talked to says it's a nice city.

That's the part of town where I work. It's not bad though you do have to plan your life around I-35's traffic. But you'd have to do that in Austin, too.AppleQueso wrote:Northeast side, really close to loop 410.Jmustang1968 wrote:Where in SA are you moving to? I grew up in SA and my parents still live there.
San Antonio is a pretty chill town, except when the Spurs are in the playoffs - everyone turns into a raving self entitled asshole then. The main draw (for me) is the food - there are some fantastic restaurants in this town that are obscure enough that the tourists never get in the way. Avoid the riverwalk - it sucks. Go see the Alamo once to get it out the way. It's really tiny. The frozen yogurt store across the street is bigger.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I was never a huge riverwalk fan, but some love it. You should check it out for yourself. Some good restaurants along it and around town.
Everyone always says SA is the big city with a small town feel, which is probably somewhat accurate. Though, traffic has become progressively worse this past decade.

Not sure what your standard for 'good' is when it comes to restaurants but I've found every single cafe, restaurant, eatery, diner, and taco stand anywhere near the River Walk to be greasy, overpriced, and disgusting. There is much better food in San Antonio than what the River Walk has to offer.Jmustang1968 wrote:I was never a huge riverwalk fan, but some love it. You should check it out for yourself. There are a few of the nicer restaurants that are good and have good drinks. Overpriced, yeah probably. But, I also havent been downtown in awhile, so things may have changed. There are some excellent mexican and steak places around town. I tend to think my food evaluation is pretty good.Flake wrote:Not sure what your standard for 'good' is when it comes to restaurants but I've found every single cafe, restaurant, eatery, diner, and taco stand anywhere near the River Walk to be greasy, overpriced, and disgusting. La Cantera is pretty nice and worth checking out. And I know there is a hipster part of town that has developed sonce I left that may intrigue some. The food truck phenomena has hit SA as well, there are a few spots that have blown up, one is right next to my dads neighborhood. Always tons of cars parked there now.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
This happened minutes ago.
I honked my car's horn at a woman with passengers in tow while she ran a red light and nearly clipped my driver's side. We both had to stomp on the brakes. I shouted "You can't run red lights!" and she replied "I ain't got no time for no red lights!".
Then a driver's side passenger, the driver's Mother or Grandmother I assume, cold cocked her in the face. If the "Puncher" would have given me a thumbs up after the blow, it would be one of the best moments in my life.
I'm not an advocate of violence, nor am I an advocate of people leaving banana peels on a newly waxed floor. Though, both things can make for funnies.

That is freaking awesome at least with the punch part....though bannana on a newly waxed floor doesn't sound like a bad ideaLuke wrote:This happened minutes ago.

Well the night was going decently well until my pants decided to rip at work. Good thing I work at night and was able to pull the shirt down....still annoying as heck though walking around with a hole in the butt of the pants...

Even if I don't get the job, I don't know if I even care. I'm enjoying my time at home learning Japanese and teaching my daughter.
