Nice! Games such as these makes the Gamestop visit worthwhile.

Get the DS version to unlock a whole new level in both games. Only a one time sync is needed. The Wii version plays beautiful with a Classic controller for a twinstick Robotron approach.

Already have it. I actually had the Wii version but I lost it a couple of years ago. But with Geometry Wars 3 out now I had a bad an itch for this game again.

Went to Target tonight and happened to walk by the electronics/gaming case. They had a sign on an end cap saying all games on this end cap only 50% off. It contained Lego Batman 3 (pretty much every system), Super Smash Bros 3DS, and Mario Kart 8. I asked him if the sign was correct and he said yes and so I had him bring SSB3DS and Mario Kart 8 up to the front. They rang up as full price but he had them change it to the discounted price. I also had a 5% off coupon so I got both games for $50. I don't know if this is true at all Targets but thought I'd spread it in case it is since I haven't seen this advertised anywhere. They are Christmas presents for my girls so I'm very happy to have scored these for that price.

A couple weeks ago, my local Targets had all video games 50% off for like two days. Then they altered the deal to like Buy 2 Get 1, junk like that.

Target deals are usually per store, though. Just like Toys R Us. Sometimes there's national ones, but usually clearance junk is per store.

I thought retail stores stock items and price them based on the manufacturer (in this case, the game publisher) and whatever does not sell just gets sent back. How is it that each store can give a different discounted price? Do they ask for permission?

pretty sure stores can sell stuff for whatever price they wish, MSRP stands for Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price

NOPE.

It doesn't work that way for video games. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft keep a very tight control over console pricing. This is a standard practice in the video game industry.

THIS. Also most major retailers have the same fixed price in a given region when an item goes on sale.

With some retail items, the MSRP is indeed suggested. However if you're a store that breaks some secret agreed max discount threshold, then a manufacturer may choose to stop supplying you with said product. Sometimes this only applies to the 'advertised' price on something. This is why you'll see paper ads that say "price too low to print, come on down to the store" or online places like Amazon where it says "see price in shopping cart" and won't tell you the price until you're at least pretending to head to checkout.

The other day when I was working at Toy's R Us they had a cart full of DS games with yellow price as marked stickers stashed in the back. Think they are trying to clear out their older stuff at least in my store saw Mario Kart DS and a few other decent titles in there. If there are any left after my shift ends at 12:30 am tonight I'm going to be all over that buggy  .
