Random Thoughts Thread
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I feel like the online merchants I am buying DVDs from are saying to themselves "I can't believe I finally found someone who is willing to buy this so I can get rid of it!"
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
looks good, I never saw the originals. I am against reboots for classics, I think it should have been a continuation. Reboot is like starting over. Usually good for incorporating new technology(King Kong), modernisation if out of style(Dracula), or building on a good idea that didn't reach its potential (IT-1990 series, not sure if this was popular or went under the radar)Anapan wrote:Animaniacs reboot trailer is awesome
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
It doesn't look like a reboot at all. It looks like a full-on continuation. The animation style is incredibly on-point and it sounds like most of the voice actors are back doing their same old shtick. This is the sort of thing we REALLY don't see enough of.Anapan wrote:Animaniacs reboot trailer is awesome

Wow, that's awesome! And I'm glad it's on Hulu, so I can actually watch it. I was also surprised to see Spielberg's name still attached to it. The jokes seem to be very much the same flavor of classic Anamaniacs, so that's great too!marurun wrote:It doesn't look like a reboot at all. It looks like a full-on continuation. The original Anamaniacs has been on Hulu, for anyone that's interested.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
That's too funny lol. I used to want cd's/DVDs over digital and pirated games. Fast forward to today and I'm the opposite. I want the real games but prefer digital music/movies.RCBH928 wrote:I feel like the online merchants I am buying DVDs from are saying to themselves "I can't believe I finally found someone who is willing to buy this so I can get rid of it!"

@stickem
Digital is great with amazing prices and convenience, but some movies that are all time favorites or have a sentimental memories is worth owning physically...at least for me.

This is what I am thinking, its not a reboot its a continuation as it seems. I wonder if they use "reboot" as in "new seasons after a long period of halt"marurun wrote:It doesn't look like a reboot at all. It looks like a full-on continuation. Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I don't get why people are excited for 60fps videos and cameras, isn't this mode that gives you the despised soap opera look and 24fps is the pro film look?
I know its better for gaming but does it affect the overall look like it does in video?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I'd say it's more that 24fps ends up looking like a movie because it's so ingrained by now. Seeing one in high framerate looks like behind the scenes footage.RCBH928 wrote:I don't get why people are excited for 60fps videos and cameras, isn't this mode that gives you the despised soap opera look and 24fps is the pro film look?

If you aren't expecting it to look like a movie though, then plenty of video content can look great at 60fps. Especially the sort of content that GoPros and the like tend to be marketed towards.
Aside from that, someone may also want higher framerate raw footage because it gives them more to work with for changing playback speed or whatever, even if their eventual output file might be 30fps or lower.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
The "Soap Opera" effect is the result of motion interpolation. It makes everything look weird because you're mostly viewing fake frames created through an algorithm. I can't stand it so I turn it off every chance I get. True 60fps video just has a lot more data in it, and looks great - especially in high-motion scenes. What previously would be a handful of motion blurred garbage frames turns to a bunch of much less blurred frames. It's amazing in sports because 24pfs just isn't enough to see fast moving things clearly.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
In the past when I looked into this wondering why a film looks different than a home recording, the conclusion was that film was shot in 24fps (softer) and VHS tape shot at 29fps(whatever it was) and hence it gave a "sharper" look. This is why an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air looks different from footage from Apocalypse Now. So I figured more frames=Soap Opera/VHS look.
My point was I never heard someone complain that this looks bad because its sub-60fps, all my DVDs and BD look great honestly but I can see how its better for fast moving images like Sports as @Anapan has mentioned. Whats the secret with 60 any way, why not 80 or 120 or 200?!
