What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
A while back, Popo gifted me a copy of the game Eradicator. I ran through the first few levels and then started up a summer challenge or something, causing me to set it aside. Finally last night I picked it back up and ran through the next level. I'm only a little ways into the game(I think I made it to the first boss level last night), and I'm playing in first person view as the miner character. I know Popo has beaten this, but have any of you other guys ever tried it?

I thought that named sounded familiar, so I just went through my PC collection. I actually own Eradicator, still sealed, from back when I bought it in 1996.Ack wrote:I know Popo has beaten this, but have any of you other guys ever tried it?
Definitely would like to know if it's good or not. Will read your review.

The game is divided into four areas of about 6 levels each. The first one definitely ends in a boss (little robot guy that fires around bouncing shots), but I don't remember of all the rest do. There are definitely two more bosses, there might be a third.

Yeah, I took out the first boss this morning. The remote mines are awesome, by the way.
Exhuminator, so far I like the game, but it has some...quirks. The audio defaults to max, which is so loud my girlfriend can hear it from my headphones while in a different room. And it also defaults to the darkest setting for some reason.

I'm still going in this. Dropped the second boss this morning, so I am now in the biolabs area. There have been some nasty puzzles, particularly one in a previous level where I had to outrun invincible repair bots to shut down a conveyor belt. That took a while for me to figure out. I have been really impressed by the variety of level ideas and layouts I have encountered. Hopefully I will wrap things up soon and be able to write a full review.

Ahh yes, I remember that level. I actually spent more time figuring out the previous level with repair bots where you blew up computers before they fixed stuff. Did you make the mistake of thinking you can destroy the repair bots?

Yes. Many, many times. I set mines, used rockets, even fired off that Death Ball thingy. In general I unloaded with everything I had, including both a Lil Buddy and a Big Lil buddy. This was probably the toughest puzzle for me to figure out in the game.MrPopo wrote:Ahh yes, I remember that level. Hey Exhuminator, I finished Eradicator and had a blast. I posted a write up in the Games Beaten thread:Exhuminator wrote:I thought that named sounded familiar, so I just went through my PC collection. Shit I'm getting old.

Nice beat, also I had no idea Eradicator had puzzle elements to it. I thought it was total action all the time.
Looking forward to the day you beat CyberMage: Darklight Awakening. Not only is that one super obscure, but I literally don't know a single person who's beaten it.

In honor of the passing of Bill Paxton, I am now playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, an FPS heavily inspired by movies that Mr. Paxton appeared in.
