Agreed. I've personally never understood why a game can be maligned simply on the basis of being too short. I don't mind playing through something casually over the course of a few days or even hours. It's nice to have variety in length just as much as art style, gameplay, ect.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I feel this way quite often, and I have learned to appreciate shorter games.Sload Soap wrote:As much as I love the Forza series, it got me thinking that sometimes games can offer too much content, to the point it becomes off putting and incoherent. I appreciate shorter games with clear goals more and more as I get older. In fact, most games I usually play them until I've kind of gotten the point and then that's it. I rarely beat games for better or worse, and with open world games like Far Cry 3 which I enjoyed, I pretty much do the basics of everything there is to do then say "Great game, what else do we have here to play?"

Ehh the older I get the more I appreciate short games sprinkled inbetween long games, or heck games like harvest moon. Those that yeah you could possibly have a ending to eventually but yea they're just fun to play(not going to get as casual as farmville or etc because yeah those just start to seem sad to find myself playing after awhile
)

Re: What are you playing?
This is the EXACT reason why I didn't care for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I just felt overwhelmed with stuff to do. It sounds crazy when you try to explain it to somebody ("what, you didn't like the game because there was too much stuff to do?!? How does that make sense?!?).Sload Soap wrote: ...sometimes games can offer too much content, to the point it becomes off putting and incoherent. Anyone else feel ever felt that way?
With having to go to the gym, defending your turf from rival gangs, texts/calls from your girlfriend, missions, etc. I just felt overwhelmed. Granted I could have ignored some of it but I'm the type of person where I felt the need to get it all done. The game just stopped being fun for me.
Re: What are you playing?
Yeah. I have very fond moments of SA. But, in the end I never finished it because I was burned out by the time I got to the final island. Overall I like to think Vice City was better in my book.

Playing Ultra Street Fighter IV against Noise right now. Haven't played against another person in Street Fighter since the Alpha 2 days. So happy to know I haven't gotten too rusty

Zelda II, having a blast while I curse like a sailor within the palaces. Using a guide, Wii U save states, etc and don't even care. Finally gonna finish this!
I'm having a blast playing older games again lately. Might have to really give Ufouria a shot next. I just really hope they put Blaster Master up on the Wii U VC...
I have also never officially beaten any of the NES Ninja Gaiden games (did Luke flinch?) or the Castlevania ones. So I'll probably hit those up too. Is Simon's Quest just as cryptic as Zelda II, or even moreso? lol.

Re: What are you playing?
I beat Zelda II for the first time earlier this year. Found myself enjoying it much more than I thought I would. I always disliked it as a kid.
I did some level grinding and hit the max levels around the 3rd or 4th palace. Made the rest of the game quite easy. Except for the final dungeon. Eff that place.

Where'd you grind? I noticed those bouncing ball enemies in the palaces are easy to get respawning for 50 points a pop, though they take a bit to kill.
The blue Iron Knuckles are ridiculous.
I just wrapped up Metroid too. Strong nostalgia linking these two, my dad's parents had these two games when I grew up so I always played them when we went over for family stuff haha. Think I ended up playing Metroid quite a bit more, I just had no idea what to do in Zelda II but always liked it lol.
