Yeah, those pricks took all the remaining Xenoblade copies and changed the SKU from new to used, so they could up the price. I assume as long as they remain "new", they can't change the MSRP.

Yup. All the leftover Xenoblades in my local GS have been changed to Used, despite never being sold.

Anybody still think Gamestop would lower prices if they started selling retro stuff?

Well considering a lot of these pices are lower than ebay, and many retro stores are higher than ebay, so maybe so?

5-pin?

Game Stop is a wonderful place if you make nice with a manager who isn't a twit. My guy will call me if something rare comes in, he'll have rare games shipped to his shop for me, and he will hold special editions for me until they drop in price.

You also need to remember the store is meant to cater to the general public. If my store charged me a "new" price for a used game, I would never shop at that location again. But as far as their prices go, they can charge whatever they want and can raise prices just like they lower prices.

And yet ebay prices for those games haven't gone down as a result.

GS and ebay prices have a relationship. The rare games like xenoblade and such are always cheaper at GS if you can find them. GslS adjusts their prices according to ebay but usually keeps it under ebay. For readily available games, they settle around the same.

That demonstrates that GS reacts to ebay prices, but not the other way around. The argument often used in favor of GS selling retro games is that ebay prices would react to whatever prices GS sets, even though there isn't really any precedent for that being true.

No it goes both ways. Mostly a supply issue. The scarce and rare games can't be found easily at GS and their ebay prices go up. GS reacts to that accordingly.

However, games easily found at GS don't sell for higher prices on ebay, and often times slightly lower on ebay. GS sets the prices on those.

So rare or pricey games like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Little Samson etc... likely won't change much due to GS not really making them any more readily available. But they could and probably would set the pricing standard on the majority of games. Why buy x game on ebay for $20 if GS sells it for $15?
