Re: NES Classic
I just hope that 3rd party advantage is worthwhile. I am still planning on four NES classic controllers, but now atleast 1 advantage. Still havent decided on the Classic itself.samsonlonghair wrote:WOOT!NES advantage controller for wii! Re: NES Classic
Finally some real evidence on this actually being fantastic.
This 4min video covers it, side by side it will display the new toy vs the Wii/WiiU virtual console releases.
In there you'll find that the colors and audio match the original hardware while the emulated VC stuff has muted audio and dull colors (like the contrast wheel is off being dark and the audio being more flat/muted than it should be.)

Finally some raw video of the CRT filter:
Despite not having "clean" scanlines I'm still buying one.
Not just a HD 50% black like I feared.
Honestly, I used to like the full NTSC Composite preset with artefacting and color fringing, but I now prefer the SCART "clean" 240P scanlines (I bought and gutted an arcade cabinet for a microchip at great expense for that).
In any case, it truly lives up to it's promises by all accounts - the CRT filter is very authentic - it deserves the Nintendo Seal of Approval.

Wow, the video difference really is surprising. Like how the NES Classic has the "Mame" Optional Game Genre Listing.Tanooki wrote:Finally some real evidence on this actually being fantastic.

I like that autofire NES Pad, neat it also has an A/B single button. The NES Advantage also sweet, but then it may be a duplicate of the original which did not have dip switches.
Prefer the Tatsunko Arcade Stick for the Wii with solid click dip switches inside; that Arcade Stick should also work for the NES Classic.
Come to think about it, with a PSX Mayflash adapter, any PS1/PS2 controller can work on the NES Classic!

Re: NES Classic
Wow not a bad Wii joystick there, insides remind me of the panel under my neo geo cabinet more than just some dumpy console joystick with just the board and rubber pads. (Speaking of which I need to find one of those, a thrashed SNES Advantage with a working PCB inside as I have a pretty one with a cracked board.)
Re: NES Classic
It's a Mad Catz Fightstick, which if it's like the PS3/360 versions should be able to get actual arcade components swapped in with minimal (if any) modifications.Tanooki wrote:Wow not a bad Wii joystick there, insides remind me of the panel under my neo geo cabinet more than just some dumpy console joystick with just the board and rubber pads. At this point though, they're pretty pricey.
Re: NES Classic
Good Lord, the Wii U Virtual Console looks dreadful in comparison. I'm hoping I can get in on one of these in the future!
Re: NES Classic
Good to know. I'll just have to keep an eye out for it I suppose or something comparable as it would be interesting, especially if I could get something with a USB interface that would work on my laptop (and consoles.) I bought into that SNK 20th Anniversary package that popped up twice last year that had like 25 legit ROM sets with emulators attached for their MVS releases. It would be most excellent to have a real joystick on the table here to go crazy on those. While I have most on legit carts/multicart for my cabinet, a few like Ironclad I do not.
Re: NES Classic
Most arcade sticks are wired USB and work with PC as well. I think some PS3 ones were fussy depending on the USB controller chip, but others state PC compatibility too. It's also not -that- uncommon for them to use Sanwa parts, or knockoff parts that you can swap with the genuine ones (like the Fightstick pictured).Tanooki wrote:Good to know. Unfortunately, the current low end stick Mad Catz makes is not as readily modded.
