In my opinion, these have no place on the list:

7. Resident Evil 0 ---> as said, this should be the Remake

9. Smugglers Run Warzones ---> I will admit I haven't played it, but the reviews for the game are solid B-/C+ territory

18. P.N. 03 ---> A nice looking game that played like shit. It was boring as fuck and, again, has a mediocre/bad metacritic score (a 63). A cult favorite perhaps, but not amongst the top 30 games by any serious measure.

19. Kirby Air Ride ---> The worst Kirby game. Again, shit reviews and too gimmicky for its own good. Probably the only Kirby game I happily parted with.

21. Starfox Assault ---> Ugh. I feel like this and Kirby are here because people like the brand. Both series just had really shitty games in this gen. No getting around it.

28. Super Monkey Ball ---> This should be the second one. It has more stuff (levels, minigames, etc.) and is superior by any and all measures. I don't understand why we'd put the first one here instead.

And these should unquestionably be on the list:

Super Monkey Ball 2 ---> as stated, far better than the first by any measure.

Baten Kaitos ---> I played this and it is gorgeous. Not my thing, but clearly better than any of the games above. There were plenty of arguments for it, and it or its sequel should be up there.

Viewtiful Joe ---> Better on GCN, probably the best BUP on the system. One of the sharpest looking 2D games of the generation. Old-school difficulty. Memorable character. Its omission is a sin.

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door ---> One of the best (the best?) in the series. Well reviewed, charming, and an essential exclusive.

With the exception of Smuggler's Run, I have played all of these games --- many for extended periods to and through completion. I am not just basing this on what I think would be better or what I think I'd like to own, I am basing it on decisions I have made about what GCN to keep, part with, or return to over the years. These are MORE than honorable mentions if you look at review scores, most top 25/50 lists, etc.

I meant the RE remake and not Zero when I posted.

And Monkey Ball belongs on the worst games list.

I do not understand your hatred for Super Monkey Ball.

Have you ever played the mini-games? They are like 10000x better than any Madden entry, ever.

RE: Resident Evil Remake - What does the GCN version offer though that isn't made redundant by the HD remake?

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with everything else you posted above.

Man don't cite Metacritic as an angle of debate, you're better than that. I can understand how someone would think P.N. 03 is too one dimensional. But on the other hand, that's its strength. P.N. 03 knew exactly what it wanted to be and was exactly that. You're a sexy sci-fi badass lady who electro laser blasts legions of robots to death, always in high booty-dancin' gyratin' style. What's that? An influence on Bayonetta? Perish the thought!

I agree with this.

Totally agree and the difficulty is obviously the sticking point. Personally I beat it on Adults difficulty and had a blast. This game is freaking awesome.

This is why I would actually keep RE:0 on the list. Although not the best game in the RE series, it's still very decent and (almost) exclusive to GameCube - with only a straight port to Wii later.

RE Remake and RE4 are both better games on GameCube, but they have improved versions playable elsewhere. The same can't be said for RE:0, so it's an interesting release for fans of the series. The full collection of RE games was also a big deal to be released on GameCube, so it's nice to see representation.

Bayonetta is overrated tripe too.

I don't see what's wrong with citing Metacritic. The game is just not a top 30 GCN game by any stretch. Critic reviews, fan reviews, and most others who have experience with the game have long argued it was a dissapointment. This thread is the first time I've ever seen so much praise for what's really a secon tier game (at best) in the GCN library.
