Why is quantity of shovelware even important? The only thing that matters is quantity of quality titles.
I don't know about you, but games like Barbie's Princess Party and Furry Rodent Dancing (note; might not be real games) don't really come up on my radar.

It doesn't. But someone was trying to say the amount of shovelware on the Wii is no worse than any other popular console.

Re: Nintendo Is Hurting :(
lol I didn't say that.
"The amount of shovelware on the Wii is about equal to the amount of terrible/generic big-budget titles that ended up on the PS3 and Xbox 360."
Point being, all consoles have shitty games. It isn't unique to the Wii.

I really can't think of too many big budget titles that were terrible on either console. Sure, there are some, but it's hardly a trend like shovelware was on the Wii.

They were there, no doubt. Duke Nukem Forever is a poster-boy for this. But the amount of shovelware on the Wii surely outnumbers it.

Re: Nintendo Is Hurting :(
Developers really piled the brown and gray FPS on the 360 and PS3, however. I do not think they are quite as numerous as Wii shovelware, but the shovelware is certainly more varied. Like the Wii's shovelware library, the brown and gray FPSs on the 360 and PS3 did produce some hidden gems; so, I am generally of the opinion that, the more software available for any system, the better.

I've made this argument several times before, but I'd wager that there were probably just as many (if not more) 2D side scrolling games, RPGs, sports games, (and probably a few other genres) as FPSs that were released on the 360/PS3 each of the past 6-7 years...
FPSs sell exceptionally well and get a lot of press, but there really aren't that many of them coming out year in and year out.

You may be right about that (with the exception of 2D side-scrollers...I think you would have a hard time arguing that there are as many 2D side-scrollers for the 360 and PS3 as there are military-themed FPSs).
That said, the brown and gray FPSs were so popular that whenever you locate used 360 and PS3 games, those (along with sports games, Rockband track packs, etc.) are typically all you find. When you locate used Wii games, you typically encounter a lot of shovelware and a few first-party titles. Shovelware tends to be pretty varied, however, and as a result, the variety of mechanics and artistic choices represented by the average selection of used Wii games is typically greater.
EDIT: I would love for you to prove me wrong about the 2D side-scrollers BTW. I love that genre.
DOUBLE EDIT: With my collecting habits, I am probably too focused on games that recevied a physical release. If you consider games that received digital-only releases, then I think that the shovel/quality ratio goes down for the Wii but that it goes way, way up for the 360 and PS3.
