So, I found out what the issue was. Apparently after Sega took down the Hunter's License server in '08, the only way to connect normally is with the EU v2 because it was free to play, therefore did not have the Hunter's License check. Seems to be a workaround with a Codebreaker code to disable the HL Check, enable connection, and one to connect to the servers.

Anyone feel like sending me a codebreakers, or copy of one? Or is there a possibility I can just download the VMI files somewhere online with the Dreamcast. I still am not quite ambitious enough to reinstall linux on my computer right now, in order to burn the disc(s) I need.

since you have a BBA I don't think that's your problem.
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast “Version 1″ – US):
Connecting with the US version of PSOv1 for the Dreamcast is relatively simple, if you are using a Broadband adapter to connect. Simply adjust your ISP settings to set your DNS server to 67.222.144.120, and everything should just work from that point. I personally use the Website option in PSOv2 US to adjust the DNS server, but other tools may work just as well.
Check around https://sylverant.net/connecting-to-sylverant/ for more info/help. This is the Sylverant server, though. Not Schthack. But you could at least confirm it's working this way.

I'm assuming you looked for similar guides on the Schthack site? I've only done DC PSO on Sylverant myself.

I would rather play as my original character, but it does seem that the possibility of playing with Ver 1 is there. I haven't tested it yet, but it appears that ver 1 doesn't check for the HL. I've been going off of these two threads on the Schthack forums:

http://schtserv.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... a672760600

Looks like I might not be able to play with you guys even if I do connect, though. So, I'm not sure if I should really even bother. Might just clear Very Hard, and see if I can clear Ultimate offline.

I'm bored of levelling guys, someone come help me beat mission 2-4 :p

Edit: Oh well, I#m guessing it was just too early for most of you guys. I managed to level up to level 16 at least. I keep spotting the Reverser spell for sale in the shop (the life spell of the game) but it's 5000 meseta, which is way more than I normally have. I guess I'll get saving next time we play.

Think I have around 6000 meseta I can throw your way. Hardly ever use items on my character so the only things I ever spend cash on is weapon identification.

That'd be great! Very generous of you!
BTW, the Ryuker disc you gave me lets me summon telepipes at will. It's pretty damn handy :D

Awesome think I picked up a Resta lvl 3 disc last night as well if you don't already have it.

I have Resta 3 thanks. I also have Resta 5, and I could use it now, but Resta 3 seems to fully heal everyone anyway, and I'm worried going to 5 will just make things more TP expensive.

Priorities for me to find right now are Zonde, Barta, Anti, Shifta and Deband at levels higher than 2. Those are the basic attack spells, the buff spells and the status healing spell. At level 3 or higher, the defensive spells work on allies too!

Well, I am able to play online with ver 1, but that really doesn't do me any good. So, I'll have to figure out a way to launch some codebreaker codes.

Tonight I plowed my way through the caves and mines areas. Also hit the first pillar for ruins, and dinged 104. Picked up a Dragon Slayer +4, that I don't believe I've ever had before. Doesn't really matter, though, since I carry about 8 weapons that all have 30%+ more attack power than it, while not hitting my evasion percentage.

I'm really remembering why this game drained so much of my time, and kept me up late in high school. Also reminds me why I loved the Dreamcast so much. If the Bruins weren't on right now, I'd probably be grinding through the rest of Very Hard mode tonight.
