Hard to say really. I've tried it on Normal and Hard 1 and it's not immediately obvious. Enemy bullet speed might be a little different. The only thing that makes a significant difference is that the extend is at 500k in both Normal and Hard 1, so you should be able to get through the earlier levels better on the Saturn version compared to the arcade, since you have 2 extends within easier reach...

Another thing for Saturn players is that you should be playing in Arcade/TATE mode if at all possible; if you play in Saturn/YOKO mode, then part of the screen is chopped off, which makes some chains harder (impossible?) because you can't lock on enemies at the same spot.

Yup.

I don't like this one. I hate how it looks, everything is so vague and pixelated. The backgrounds are disorienting. It all just blurs together. The lock-on system doesn't work as well as it should. I might play a few more times to get some semblance of a score, but then I'm calling it a day.

What are you playing on Bone? I think this game looks gorgeous, easily outclasses any shmup released by that point. I see no blur whatsoever!

And, what do you mean by the lock-on system not working as well as it should?

I think it looks great (especially for 1994) and the lock-on system works perfectly fine for me. But I guess old-school shooters can be an acquired taste at times.

It does look pretty bad in Yoko mode on the Saturn, but that's a problem with other shmups on the Saturn/PSone as well (e.g. Battle Garegga).

Yep, I suspected that Bone may be playing the game in Yoko, which would explain both the poor graphics and lock-on issues.

I gotta agree. I'm not scoring the best on this game, but I love playing this game for survival. Looks pretty good on my LCD, too, even in Yoko.

I'm playing in Yoko too, since I don't have a Tate-able monitor. It looks pretty good on an HDCRT through S-Video.

Just had a credit on the Saturn version where I had 900k+ after Stage 2. Unfortunately I screwed up Stage 3, but it looks like it's perfectly possible to score as highly in this compared to the arcade...

FWIW I'm playing on Saturn in Tate through RGB Scart into SLG-in-a-box onto a LCD TV and it looks pretty gorgeous to me.

No play tonight - will try some more tomorrow. It would be nice to see what the stage 2 boss looks like...
