I just want to nominate Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter, Light Crusader, and Beyond Oasis/Legend of Oasis.

The candy kind.

I would have a couple of nominations.

If a rouguelike were to be considered, may I remind you about Castle of The Winds? It has a good length with 2 episodes to play though, randomly generated dungeons, enemies, and an inventory system where you can equip nearly every part of your body with many weapons and items. Plus, it is now available as freeware. Plus it nearly won in the pseudo-voting of the TR 2014 thread.

Also an action RPG on the NES that is near and dear to my heart, the awesome Magic of Scheherazade!

This game has 5 worlds with time traveling elements in each one which changes how each level looks and plays, 11 NPCs that fight alongside the main character, 3 character classes, action *and* turn based battles with different character formations that will do more damage against certain enemies, as well as a great story, this game has it all. It is also affordable and can be found for less than $10 loose on eBay.

EDIT: The 2 games again are:

Castle of The Winds (Rougelike - Free download for PC)
Magic of Scheherazade (Action RPG - NES, less than $10 cart only @ eBay)

Hey Exed, I can't see some of the images you posted. Can you add a list of what you're nominating to the bottom of your post?

Really? I guess because they're all different sizes.

Edited.

I tend to forget that there is actually a physical version (3.5" floppy) of Castle of the Winds as well. I've been downloading it for so long.

Magic of Scheherazade is a great game, I still need to finish that one myself - the fact that it's exclusive to one console could potentially be an issue though.

Ack.

And yeah, the game is an action RPG.

Most games that have Zelda-like mechanics are in fact action-RPGs. Zelda's lack of a leveling system is pretty unique.
