Ok, one thing I know that's a point bonus is that in some levels there will be a tower thing with a crystal on it. You have to have the same colored weapon as the crystal and destroying it is worth some nice points. I've been playing GAW and haven't fired up Truxton yet. I can't remember how may points it is, but maybe Noise is hitting that?

Wait nevermind, those give 1 ups.

well every power up seems to give points -- so if you switch weapons often it'll boost yr score it seems. I have founds some 1ups too which I *think* also give points?

I.... don't know. I've never really messed w/ MAME emulation. If I did that I'd have to do it some other night when I can take the time to sort it out. It would probably be a lot quicker for some of you guys playing MAME to emulate the Gen version to check differences?

I thought of that. Maybe on the weekend cuz I'd have to move some equipment around. But just to confirm:

A) Normal setting
B) use all lives up (no continues)
C) rapid fire is ok
D) use bombs

...can some of you guys try playing the Genesis version for a bit, too?

Agreed, how are you doing this dude? I've played without dying and destroying every enemy on screen up to that area, and haven't gotten a score anywhere near close to that. I don't think you've even gotten to the first boss (at least what I consider the first boss) in that area. Perhaps you're a divine god of some kind? Please, share your holiness!

Also, I'll put some more time into the Genesis version. I can probably get to the big blue boss without dying (at least without using a continue), curious what my score will be after that.

176,760 on the Genesis on my first go - the game is a tad easier than MAME but the scoring is basically the same, as far as I can tell. I got slightly further then in MAME...

but like noise I died in Round 1, Stage 2. His score is more the ten times mine. I killed pretty much everything on screen and got 4-5 of the 5,000 point bonuses.

So it beats me. Maybe you have a wonky rom?

also, noise, how did you "find" one-ups in those first two areas? AFAIK there are no 1-ups to find, only to earn through scoring...

And the game doesn't give you points for switching weapons - in fact it gives them to you for NOT switching...

I wonder if you do have some kind of hacked ROM.
