Together Retro: Shining Force
Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
If you haven't started yet, make sure to get Gong before the first battle.

This battle doesn't really have robots? It has a those annoying 3 headed multi-animal things...SpaceBooger wrote:I didn't find 26 too hard. All of the robots were taken out by one or two hits with only one or two characters taking damage.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Any tips for Battle 26?
For the king I put Mae and Guntz two spaces to the left and right with Musashi and one of the gladiators to the immediate left and right. Max was directly in front of the king and Anri behind Max.
The king went down after Anri used Freeze 4 (30-40hp) and one hit from the other characters mentioned.
Also something I didn't realize until tonight - many weapons (the special ones) can be used as items too. ex: The Sword of Light can be used to attack with Bolt2, and the Chaos Breaker Freeze3.

Still trekking along Chapter 2, lol... I HATE BATS.
Hans hasn't been too hot in these last two battles. Maybe he'll get better later or just needs better equipment at this point? He was rocking early on.
But wow my Mages have been dominating these last battles.

Hans sucks. Really. Just flat out sucks. He's worthless.Xeogred wrote:Still trekking along Chapter 2, lol... I HATE BATS.

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Hans is ok if you give him powerful arrows and level him up. But Dianne is definitely the better archer.
Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Good to hear at least some other archer is good, lol. Weird, he was really good early on but yeah... now he's dishing out ~1-2 damage on everything, even when he's level 4-5 or something like most of my other guys.
Who were the better healers again? I'm surprised by how hard Gong's hits can be sometimes, so I'm digging him since he's a little more dynamic than the other two, Khris and that other guy you start with.

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
get Hans some good arrows. Steel ones or whatever. It helps. And just keep taking shots to level him up. Some enemies are gonna just be a 1 or 2, but others he'll hit harder. You'll get used to knowing thy enemy.
Dianne is way better thogh. She levels up better too. I have most of my regulars areound lvl 15 now, and she can now take shots from 3 spaces away which is super useful. I think Mae and Ken can do the same now too.
Gong is the only healer I've kept. I prefer to just have a hardcore fighting machine crew and load them up on healing herbs.

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Yeah I saw you mention that about herbs earlier, it seems like a good strategy to me. lol
I still don't have access to better arrows, but yeah I'll get those when I can. Also I still have yet to "replay" any battle to get a few extra level ups or something. Would you guys say that is ever really necessary, or is there like a specific battle earlier on that's a good time to do that? I feel like I should've done it here at the Cave of Darkness or whatever, that was a really easy battle and a smaller map. The first battle in chapter 2 was annoying though because I was stuck around that bridge at the beginning forever!
So do you guys recommend the throwing weapons for the horsemen over the spears or whatever? I just got Arthur and gave him the throwing weapon since I realized I replaced whatever Ken had with a spear, so Hans was my only ranged fighter besides the mages and I'd like to have more balance than that.

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Chapter 6!
I think I'm gonna swap Guntz in instead of keeping Balbory (or whatever that bird's name is). The birddude is like lvl 15 or so, and Guntz is 8. But I find the bird mostly useless, less the fact he can fly around pretty much anywhere on the map. He's weak as hell though.

I do. I never use the lances. Just spears/halberds. I find them much more useful, even if they are a bit weaker.Xeogred wrote:So do you guys recommend the throwing weapons for the horsemen over the spears or whatever? I don't ever really use Hans or Diane. I find both rather useless.
