Re: Sonic Generations
So how does this compare to Colors? I plan to pickup both sometime.

I did not like Colors. I felt like some of the levels were absolutely amazing and some of them were too short, disjointed, or awkward. I am in the minority, though. Odds are you'll like it just fine.
Generations feels like Sega took a poll about what people really liked about Colors and then built the game solely around that.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

They're both excellent games, but I think Colors is slightly better overall. Either way, Sonic fans should definitely buy both of them.

Colors on the DS is Sonic Rush 3.

I disliked the first Rush, lol. I liked Advance a lot more (still need to play the others).
The two screens thing and all the rails in Rush killed it for me I think.

I didn't like Rush either. The level design constantly annoys me, and I hate how all the bosses all have an attack that kills in one hit, no matter what. And the bosses take too long, because the window for damaging them is small and you're only allowed one hit.

I enjoyed Rush 1 until the sky level, where there was an area where if you didn't know it was coming you'd always land in a bottomless pit, and if you did you had to deal with a bullshit lifty thing that was hard to control and usually sent you in a bottomless pit.

That's the exact same place I stopped enjoying the game as well. That sky level plain sucks.

I'm guessing you only played Sonic Advance 1? (which in my book is just as good as the Mega Drive Sonic games, and what I'd call the TRUE Sonic the Hedgehog 4). Cause SA2 had a lot of boring rails and stupid level design like Sonic Rush, and the less we say about SA3 the better
I at first liked Sonic Rush (mind you this was after the huuuuuuge disappointment of SA3), but after I beat it, I found out the level design wasn't good. I never enjoyed replaying the levels. And Sonic Rush Adventure I didn't even beat.
BTW I have to say at first I was crazy about this game (Sonic Generations) but I am disappointed at how few levels the game has, and also after the Mega Drive levels the game's quality dips a bit. oh well, maybe next time (still a worthy purchase at a discount, but not as a full priced game)

Re: Sonic Generations
I really need to check out the Sonic Rush games. Lately, I find platformers to be a bit boring. Super Mario 3D Land is a solid game, but there is something about Mario that just doesn't interest me anymore. It's a boring, lame character in a boring, lame world. There's nothing exciting about jumping on mushrooms and listening to some guy say, "Letsa go!!!" over and over again. The whole time I played that game I kept asking myself why do people still like Mario? Sonic Generations reminded me of how much more exciting and fun Sonic games are when done right. The speed, the adrenaline rush, the attitude, the robots, the super saiyan super Sonic. Sonic and Mario so perfectly represent their respective companies. Nintendo has always felt like a boring, old man while Sega was always the "cool" kid. Mario is dated, old and boring. Sonic can still be a fun and exciting character with some marketability. I just recently saw him in a Progressive commercial
