How has James Rolf (aka AVGN) influenced you as a gamer?

The bit about the Simon's Quest ROM hack was amusing.

I still watch his stuff from time to time though, some of the games he goes crazy on are games he just makes me want to play more.... *sigh* I hate him for making me want to play the games he reviews that don't really seem all that bad(when he does say they're bad)

He reviews put a smile or two on my face, but that's about it. And I love the AVGN theme. From classical/original, to all the other covers, one of the best tunes ever. Awesome

The worst thing about him is his imitators imo.

Yeah, watching his old reviews sort of tripped my nostalgia alarm, so to speak. Before I knew it, I was tracking down my favorite old Nintendo games...and then the prices started going up, up ,up.
Re: How has James Rolf (aka AVGN) influenced you as a gamer?
Big fan of his, but he didn't make me want to go back to playing retro games, he just made me realized how bad some of them were. It wasn't until I had started watching the Game Chasers that I started playing and hunting for old games again.
