hey all, I'm 21 and from lansing, Michigan. I'm a huge fan of sega consoles, especially the saturn and dreamcast. I like to mod consoles here and there, I put in my first sega saturn country switch when I was probably no older than 13. I like fighting games, light gun games, and shoot-em-ups (even though i suck at shmups), and to me, arcade sticks are one of the best things on earth. My next project is most likely going to be a pair of home-made sega saturn arcade sticks. I posted a guide in the hacks/mods section about how to install an industrial microswitch into a saturn light gun, I hope you guys find it to be of some use.

Howdy everyone I am 22 and a Nintendo and Sega lover. My girlfriend brought the PS in...

I began retro gaming when I became poor and could no longer afford the next gen systems. Therefore I have played more than my fair share of PC games. Some of my favorites there are the Half-Life series, the Myst series, Age of Empires/Mythology, StarCraft, Warcraft (none of that MMO crap tho), I am a long time Guild Wars player (however no longer) and have played some other MMORPGs as well (Anarchy Online, Ultima Online, Everquest, and most recently the awful Vanguard: Saga of Heroes).

In my console gaming life I began with an Intellivision and eventually moved onto an original Gameboy and a Super Nintendo. Soon my brother and I had purchased/received a Genesis, Gameboy pocket and color, Game Gear, and finally our next-gen system the N64 which I remember pre-ordering.

After I entered college I moved away from console gaming and into the above mentioned PC games. My real beginning foray into retrogaming came with a purchase of a Virtual Boy and Blockbuster case from Ebay. I also bought a Gameboy advance to play a lot of the sweet SNES ports and other new 2d games (but mostly Pokemon :oops:

). When I moved in with my girlfriend we split the cost of a Wii and the virtual console prompted the purchase of a Saturn and a N64 just to get a little more taste of the retrogaming (we have the big 3 competitors for the entry into 3d, I feel proud... or nerdy). I also have a NES and a ton of games that were given to me by my Uncle who worked at the Goodwill and said that they were going to throw them out!

Well thats enough about me, I am really glad I found this site and look forward to visiting it in the future.

Jeez, how long ago was that?

Goodwills around my area are now just selling the old games they get on their online bidding site, which is defeating the purpose of goodwills (at least value village isn't doing that, I picked up an old Odyssey 2 there a few weeks ago). The good will site is shopgoodwill.com if any of you are interested in trying to find better deals than ebay.

Well I am new here and I just picked up a saturn from a guy off craigslist. I have been collecting older games and this collection kind of just started when I picked up a dreamcast with all the wires, controller, vmu, and crazy taxi for 10 bucks.

Lately I had been looking around for old nes games, and I have been also exploring the world of shmups, because ever since I was a kid I've loved the shootings games from the arcades.

Hi, my name is link343. I am 16. I used to post on the segaxtreme forums when they were still alive (aka spring 2006). Nice to see some familiar faces. I am a fan of both sega and nintendo.

For a while I was getting out of gaming but now I have got back into it with a purchase of a saturn. I used to host a FTP with a ton of Saturn games. Sometime next year, Im going to relaunch it with a stable PC. Hope to make a lot of new friends.

It was less than 5 years ago. It's amazing that the company will go from throwing out everything electronic like the NES to putting everything up on online auctions. It might be a bit of a rip off but it looks as if it is making a good charity (Goodwill) a decent amount of money.

Yeah, they are probably making some good money and that's good but it just was so disappointing to see a huge stack of snes and n64 games in the back that weren't going to come out.
