I've always heard referred to as ESL. Perhaps different degrees?catnip wrote:it was my gf's birthday yesterday. I bought her a Winnie-the-Pooh book and admission for both of us to a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) class. We'll be starting in the fall!

Sounds like Florida. Voldemort Our Governor cut pay for teachers 3 years in a row, then raised it a smidge his fourth year so that when running for re-election he could claim he was pro-education.Luke wrote:The pay raise for NC Teachers is a joke.

Yup. It's all about trying to get votes.AmishSamurai wrote:Sounds like Florida. Teachers are literally crying over this as they will not receive what was promised. It is about but the money, but it isn't. It's about respect, being felt rewarded for their work, and then felt being lied to.
And as the article shows, some teachers will be making less money in 2015.
What to do? You can boycott, but teachers (the ones I know) don't want to at the expense of education. The situation stinks. So does the guy who calls himself the situation.
Stupor: Took a nap and woke up to my phone ringing. My first thought was "Shit! It's after 12pm and I was supposed to have a meeting at 11am!". I was out of sorts, as my meeting with a colleague is tomorrow.
I should not talk on the phone fresh out of sleep.
Smile: Only a little while until I see TMNT.
Frown: NDA

Sometimes, when I think about what the hell I want to do with my life, I consider being a teacher. I mean, I've got a useless liberal arts degree so it makes sense, right? (Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing, for those wondering.)
Then I see stuff like the above article and I'm all like:
