What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I've been bouncing between Sniper Elite III and Rise of the Triad (original). Mostly what happens is I'll die in Sniper Elite, losing 20 minutes of progress, get pissed off, and move to RotT. I'll usually give that a couple of tries before I get too annoyed at the various trap deaths and then either switch back to Sniper Elite or just say fuck it and do Might & Magic.

You know, I have never given the original Rise of the Triad a fair shake. I own it on GOG... I should check it out some time.

I've got free Steam keys for System Shock Enhanced and System Shock 2 from the Kickstarter campaign. Anyone interested PM me.

The original RotT blew my mind as a kid, due to how crazy violent and gory it was. It was the game that introduced me to bouncy gibs:Ack wrote:You know, I have never given the original Rise of the Triad a fair shake. I own it on GOG... I should check it out some time.

Also the most sadistic FPS until Soldier of Fortune came out:

PLAY KING'S FIELD.

To be fair, if you don't shoot him he'll get back up and plug you.

Anyone else getting Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare today? I normally don't get CoD games for almost a year after release, but I was EXTREMELY impressed with Black Ops III and Advanced Warfare, so I'm giving Infinite Warfare an optimistic shot. I'm actually really looking forward to playing it tonight and hoping Activision continues this budding trend of good Call of Duty campaigns.

ugh, I don't know! When it was announced I was excited. Then I wasn't. Last night I watched a trailer and I was like "OMG THIS LOOKS SO GOOD!" and went online and almost pre-ordered. It looks crazy though. I loved Advanced Warfare.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Anyone else getting Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare today? I'm still not hearing any good impressions. Sounds like EA is giving them a strong 1-2 punch this year with BF1 and TF2. I can easily imagine COD is the most uncreative of the big three.

I decided to wait until Thursday to play the Infinite Warfare campaign (I gave in and pre-ordered a PlayStation 4 Pro), but I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the multiplayer. It's almost exactly like Titanfall 2 except nowhere near as good.

I regret any negative thing I probably said about Titanfall 2 over the previous months...
It is sublime. The campaign is fantastic so far. Basically, it feels like Killzone, except 10x better (and I don't hate Killzone or anything, but this just simply feels way better). The humor is just right too and I absolutely love how it feels like they clearly took some influence from Doom 4. Now I'm not sure if the fun helmet collectibles, or the goofy Titan health pickups, etc, were newer additions after Doom 4 released, but it's interesting to think about. Simply put, Titanfall 2 is charmingly fun. A lot of things I hear about its tone I've heard about with Gears of War 4 as well apparently. This is a new trend I like. No need to always be ultra grounded, dead serious, and muted colors.
The mecha combat is absolutely amazing. As a mecha fanatic, it scratches that itch and then some... I remember the days of when I loved FEAR 2's mecha combat, but this is full on Armored Core.
All it took was a little campaign and I'm doing way better in multiplayer too.
I still think BF1's multiplayer will be more my liking down the road... but I'm probably only going to focus on TF2 for now.
Like Elkin's report above, everything I hear about COD is that the campaign is cool and Star Fox-y even, but the multiplayer is completely uninspired and boring. Considering I'm still interested in the Black Ops trilogy and Advanced Warfare, I'll just pick those up for cheap and by the time I catch up if Infinite Warfare is $10 I'll probably get it then. lol, this is my new approach to the annually released series out there. I'll stay a few years behind.
