@Applequestio Man that is crazy that that happened, at least everyone was ok and that is the most important part.

@Luke Yes, join me in only recently getting texting...which I still can't do right...stupid kids these days

 Started my first real day in the retail department I was assigned. I had been working this past week as a cashier and it has been exhausting. So I am working in the electronics department and met some of my co-workers. Let's talk about Guy (not his real name). Guy is a 20-something who was showing me around on how to work our photo equipment and setting up mounted photos and picture frames and on and on. Or at least, he was supposed to.

Instead, I was subjected to some of the most frustrating conversations I have ever had. The kid talked about his D&D campaigns and his GURPS campaigns where he was the coolest and most powerful being on Earth as I feigned interest. We are talking about going into in depth detail about what advantages and disadvantages he picked, how that affected all of his stats as well as the GURPS mechanics on Mechs. We are talking hair pulling stuff hair.

When I finally get a word in and say I have an interest in video games, he goes on to tell me he is a master at video games and how he knows everything there is to know about videogames. He talks about his love for Blizzard and how Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 are some of the best games ever made and how it is a shame that someone would like me would like Diablo 2 over Diablo 3.

I mention I love fighting games and talk about Virtua Fighter, only to be cut off and told that Mortal Kombat is the best fighting game ever, next to DragonBallZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (a fun game..but not a great fighting game) and how he is a world tournament champion in DBZ and about how he beat the previous champion with freaking Mr. Satan.

I tell him some of my favorite games, Shenmue, Shadow of the Colossus and Riven: the Sequel to Myst and his response is, "Never heard of those."

He then talks about how he loves Sonic the Hedgehog and how they are all awesome. I responded with, "After Sonic '06, you can't get any worse," and low and behold..he had never heard of the Sonic the Hedgehog game where he kisses a human.

He then tells me how I can't be a true gamer if I don't play Starcraft 2 because all the real gamers out there play StarCraft 2.

Oh.....his favorite movie director? MICHAEL BAY! He is so excited for TMNT movie and he thinks that Donatello looks BADASS!? I also told him Michael Bay is not directing TMNT and is only a producer and he told me I needed to get my facts straight.

He went to great lengths to explain to me how the Transformers moves were some of the best action sequences in the history of film and how the 4th movie did a great job in rebooting the franchise.......

By the way I just noticed your location. I love it up there in the mountains. I grew up in Morgantown for a large portion of my childhood, familiar with it? WV is underrated. It's still my favorite place. The other half before I moved here to hell on earth AKA Florida was spent in New Orleans. Funny it was splitting time between Creole and Hillbilly.
Yes, I have been to Morgantow; it's near the Maryland/Pennsylvania/West Virginia border. At one point I lived near the Mason/Dixon line in Martinsburg, WV. Now I live at the very southern end of WV in Mercer county. This Borders Raleigh County WV (think Beckley), Giles County VA (gateway to Christiansburg/Blacksburg/Radford), and Tazewell County VA (think the two Bluefields).

Funny you should mention "hell on earth" Florida; that's where I grew up. Ironic, no? I'm from Miami. I don't take offense. You either love Florida or hate it.

I'm thinking about moving in the next six months. I need to live in a place with more economic opportunity. I'm thinking about the Carolinas, or possibly the Chesapeake Bay area. I feel the need to leave this place, but I don't really know where I'm going.

I have learned that "stuff" is called "All-Feed" or "All-Stock".

The benefit of living in rural areas like WV is that you can own multiple animals. In my case, I bought a goat who enjoys the occasional handful of all-feed. I also have a border collie; my woman has a bernese mountain dog and a sugar glider; my room mate has a conure; there are wild animals aplenty including birds, rabbits, and deer. One of my neighbors raises chickens; another neighbor raises coonhounds. There's a farm fifteen minutes down the road where I buy my beef and lamb. Sometimes I can talk them out of some free goat milk too.

Wow, that sounds like a person I am glad I have never met.

It's a long drive to Michigan just to kick some ass and reunite with old friends, but I am considering it.

@ All: Texting is all fine and dandy, but I prefer email. Actually I prefer a hand written letter, but getting a text of "sup?" is a waste of my time. Not trying to sound self absorbed, but text is the lcd of communication. If you want to know when "I B there?" call me; that's why I bought a smart phone with unlimited minutes.

Phone call:

"Hey cupcake (yes, I call my wife "cupcake"), while you're at the store, would you please pick up a poblano pepper?"

-Sure! Anything else you want me to pick up while I'm out?

"Come to think of it, grab a few tomatillos and...Oh! We're short on Kleenex. That will do'er unless you can think of anything".

-I should pick up some tp too. Love ya, bye!

Text:

Would you please pick up a poblano pepper?

-What?

Are you still at the store?

-Yes.

Can you pick up a poblano pepper?

-Sure. Bye.

Minutes pass....

Oh, I need a few tomatillos too.

-I was about to check out. Let me go get them.

Thanks.

-I think we also need some Kleenex.

Ugh. I'll pick that up. Do we need tp?

-Let me go check...

-Yes.

K

Text sucks.

Ticked - our corporate folk want us to get a contract resigned by a customer for the seventh time. Usually we get them signed once and we are done, seven is unheard of.

Smiled - discovered Drivethru RPG got access to the Wizard backlog. $40ish gets me almost all of the original D&D modules I care about. Now to find a table that can run them at a price I am willing to pay.

:D Got something in the mail from my Grandfather on my mom's side. He and his wife sent me three pairs of earbuds and $100 in cash!

:D Tonight at 8pm EST I'll finally be able to get the full version of Freedom Planet. I put in $15 in the Kickstarter last year and after delay after delay after motherfuckin' delay, it's finally gonna get its ass out there!!

Yeah, lots of glass right behind my bed. There's a thick curtain over the window that the bed is up against, so I didn't get any glass in my face or anything like that, but there's definitely glass inside the house.
Most importantly, are your games ok?
