We had one here in northern Illinois a couple years ago. Pretty much caught EVERYBODY off guard.
Didn't help that it happened at like 4 AM.

the East coast is on an inactive fault line. Most people don't know. Its only a matter of time before the quakes are bad here again. Pretty much if there a mountain chain, there's two tectonic plates pushing up against one another. Its hard to say what's coast's quakes are worse because the East Coast hasn't been afflicted with very many quakes.
I felt the earthquake as well. I thought it was pretty cool. On a not as cool note, I only have one paper to write and then my summer english project will be done! Then I can finally go back and finish LttP.
