What was the last movie you've seen?

I never watch movies, but since I was bedridden with pneumonia this week, I actually fired up Amazon Video and watched this for the first time.

Horror is, hands down, my favorite genre, and I'm a huge junkie for the first person/camcorder style of horror movies, so I absolutely loved this one. Other than this and the Paranormal Activity series (I have the whole thing on my Xbox account from a sale earlier this year), does anyone have any suggestions for horror movies in that style? I've seen Blair Witch Project, obviously.

So you're into Found Footage films? Interesting, most folks I know don't care for them so much, but we can certainly help you out.

Check these out:

Cannibal Holocaust
[•REC]
Man Bites Dog
Trollhunter
District 9

The Bay and The Last Exorcism are very, very solid. I have also read good things about Unfriended, but I haven't seen it yet.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

Dat name.

This is the 80's.

Honestly I don't know if I liked it much. Earlier today I got through House (1986) which is also camp incarnate and loved it, but Buckaroo here like tips the ridiculous scale over too much. In ways I want to recommend it because it's so damn bizarre. And hilarious timing with it feeling like a parody of Cronenberg movies at times which I've watched lately. The aliens here reminded me of Cronenberg stuff.

I discovered it because of HappyConsoleGamer showing it off on one of his newer favorite movies videos, and I think he straight up said it's like his second of all time.

Crazy claim, but I guess the way I see it, what this movie is to HCG, is what Super Mario Bros The Movie is to me, I absolutely love the SMB movie because it's so utterly bizarre and out there, I can easily see how must hate it... but it's a legit favorite of mine and just one of those things I probably can never explain. I just love it.

So who knows, maybe this wacky adventure will work for you. Give it a ride.

I love Buckaroo Banzai, but yeah I could see it not being for everybody.

I may not agree with everything you say, but this here shows you're good people. SMB for life.

SMB is a screwy take but its a fun one, just you have to be prepared for it not to be canon in almost any way. I dont get the hatred really as it could be so much worse.

Batman Forever... ugh. What a mess. The change in tone from Burton's movies is still jarring. So silly and lame. The sets were mostly a series of neon yellow and pink and blacklights. Gross. Kilmer could have been a good Batman, but he doesn't really do much of anything. He's just kind of there. On the flip, there's over-acting everywhere else. Especially Jim Carey. No wait, I'm lying - he didn't act at all. He just played JIM CAREY rather than the Riddler. It's like watching Lloyd Christmas or Ace Ventura in The Riddler's costume. Obnoxious. Tommy Lee Jones fared slightly better as Two Face, but I still thought it was just too campy and silly. Also the plot wasn't so much a plot but a bunch of shit happening. I didn't quite hate it... but I almost hate it.

I always heard this one was worse, but oddly I enjoyed it more than Forever (as did my wife). At least here there was what could be identified as a plot to follow. Mr. Freeze was alright (though in my own director's cut I'd get rid of every horrible pun he makes). Bane was kind of a waste. But Poison Ivy was handled pretty damn well. And I liked the intro to Batgirl. For the most part I found this one at least easier to follow, and overall a bit more focused than Forever. Not great, but it has its moments.

I remember spending way too much time playing that shitty BATMAN FOREVER game on Genesis. :|
