For real though, the light fixtures of my game room protrude from the wall, as opposed to being affixed to the ceiling, which really effs up shelving potential. Ah well, I have enough games as it is.

So did I; I had the wall sconces removed and put in ceiling lights when I put in my shelves. And personally I think ceiling lights are better overall for room visibility and the like.

So, I'm having an oddly large amount of trouble with this, but where can I find a list of Japanese PS1 games? It can be a full list or just the Japanese exclusive games, but I can't seem to find one for some weird reason.

If you go on the Wikipedia list and click the little arrows next to the NA and then PAL tabs at the top of the chart, it'll sort the list so that you're seeing first the games that were unreleased in both of those regions. It's a great way to sort Wikipedia for anything ^w^

Thanks partridge! No idea you could do that.

Hopefully everything is on Wikipedia, there was apparently a time even recently where there was a lot of Japanese PS1 and Saturn stuff that was really unknown in the west. Or at least, that's what a lot of things I found suggested.

That may still be the case, so take it with a grain of salt. Info on Japan-only PS1 stuff has always been spotty, and I guarantee there are some crazy obscure variants and titles no one thought would interest the West that will be tough to find any info on. PS1 also just doesn't illicit the second response from the fanbase that other consoles do.

That is all.

It's funny how one's opinion can be shaped by so many different factors. There are some NES games that I found to be frustratingly, impossibly hard when I played as a child. Hudson's Adventure Island and Castlevania stand out to me. Then there are others that people talk about today and find them to either be terribly obtuse or horrible to play. A couple of these that stand out for me are Castlevania II and Zelda II. I played and beat both when I was younger. I've always owned some version of Zelda II and I've played through it several times over the years. I loved it then and still love it now. But there're are probably several reasons for that that may have no bearing on other people. Zelda II was like the 4th or 5th game I ever owned. I spent a year reading about it in Nintendo Power as it was delayed porting it from the FDS (I remember reading back then about a chip shortage?). When I got it, I played it nonstop for months. Back then I got a new game like once or twice a year. Similarly, with Castlevania II (I never owned it, but borrowed it from a friend years later), I had friends and Nintendo Power's Classified Information and Howard and Nester to guide me. Back then we didn't know any better that we shouldn't be banging our heads against a wall for weeks trying to figure out how to get to the next section. Do you remember in the original Metroid that it was never explained anywhere that bombs could destroy some environmental blocks? Yet this was required to get to numerous sections in the game! That took multiple schoolyard discussions to find out...

I still don't understand how my brother and I ever finished the second quest in OG Zelda... or did we? Red and Blue Bubbles? Are you kidding me???

Zelda II is one of the most polarizing games at Racketboy. But we co-exist, despite these seemingly uncrossable gulfs.

I love it, but I think I'd hate it if I tried to play more "legitimately." I've always power-leveled my way through. It hard.

I absolutely hate Zelda II, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad game. I just find it far too difficult for how little I found myself enjoying it. I also don't like Majora's Mask even though I think that's one of the best made games of the 90s.

+1 on Majora’s Mask

I think it is one of the wonderfully intricate, beautifully designed games ever made, and it is Wonder it runs on 20+ year old hardware. I respect it immensely, and I also consider it one of the best games of the 90s. I just don’t enjoy playing it that much.

Zelda II on the other hand, I adore for basically the same reasons stated by dsnell99 above.
