I got a single phone call on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to let me know that it was in the hands of the WV Department of Health and Human Resources. After that I couldn't get in touch with my case worker. I called several times and left voice mails. Nothing. I asked repeatedly for her email (so that there would be record of my attempts to contact her) but I was refused. I went into the DHHR on foot (an all day process on my only day off) just to find that she wasn't there. After months of this going nowhere I got a rejection letter in the mail. I really don't know what to do now.
If you have been rejected for Medicaid, you can might be able to find an affordable plan through the exchanges:

That said - and although I highly recommend that you get health insurance if possible - it might be less expensive (and faster) to simply pay for a one-time consultation out-of-pocket. If one visit to a doctor is enough for him to prescribe you with an anti-depressant, it might very well be worth the cost.

Do some research into the facilities available in your area and do not be afraid to ask about the cost of a visit over the phone. I suspect that you will be able to find a good, affordable provider in your area than can render the services you need.

Regardless, please let us know how we can help. I know many people who have struggled with depression, and I am happy to help any of our members who are facing it.

Yep, I'll echo what prfsnl_gmr has said. I had a doozy of a year and needed to get on a better mood after the passing of my grandmother. Work was also a particularly hectic year starting around late July, early August. I got to May when our work slows down and it all hit me at once. I felt irritable, tired, and not enjoying things that I almost always enjoy. I also had very little motivation to work out and play soccer, things that I've been doing 20+ years now with very little coaxing. I don't know the insurance avenues, but I will attest that speaking to a mental health professional and/or getting a referral to a doctor will be extremely helpful. Being attentive to your mood before, during, and after are also good ways to monitor as well.

I hope everything is okay though--you have a support system on here but make sure to take action steps in your best interest.

8) Eight more days until wife, baby, and I move into our house. Not only is this new place more space efficient, but I will finally have a game room with substantial space to fit all my various crap.

I mentioned to the wife that I plan to have four televisions set up in there and she and my daughter both rolled their eyes at me. What the heck.

Game changer for sure. So happy for ya.

When my wife closed on our house, we threw caution to the wind and slept on the floor with zero furniture in the new digs. I know things are different with a child, but enjoy the holy heck out of this.

Yeah I just asked my wife "where is the sleeping bag?"

I'm going to stay there the first night. She thinks I'm nuts (we have weeks to get out of the house we're currently in).

Congrats, Bone! I am looking forward to seeing the new place the next time I am up that way.

When my wife and I purchased our home, we also slept on a mattress on the floor for a few days. We thought it was so great finally having our own place, and I hope that you and Mrs. Bone feel the same way.

 : Got a big event coming up tomorrow for work, so things have been a little hectic lately.

:o : And by hectic, I mean hectic for other people since 90% of the preparation doesn't involve me, so I get to sit and work at my leisure while others run around like decapitated chickens. The boss lady also said I didn't have to go into work today, so an even more leisurely work-at-home day for me.

:) : They finally decided to put me on the payroll at work.

:( : This means more work for me and more hours.

:D : More hours=More money. Plus I'm finally set up for direct deposit, so no more worrying about where the heck my check is

So today in our fine dining establishment. I helped serve the manager and her party. I had 3 stellar compliment cards, all of which get seen by the general manager. My supervisor mentioned me in her report (positively). I also came home with a $20 in my pocket.

Not bad for this busboy's second day ever in the service industry. 8)

A very different, yet similar lot we are.

I have a picture, somewhere, of our first dinner at our new digs.

Bojangles on the kitchen floor. We were so happy we didn't need as table.

Good on you Ryan, and best of luck Michi.

I tell ya, buying a house as a single man was a very different experience. Or maybe I'm just weird

I was living with my folks at the time, so while I was excited (I literally started ripping the ugly-as-sin carpets out with my bare hands within 30 minutes of walking in the door), I was in NO rush to move in. Ripped the carpet out, refinished the floors, painted every room on the main floor (it's a cape cod) including taking down wallpaper in the kitchen, replaced the bathroom vanity, took down the curtain rods and put up blinds... THEN I was ready to move in. Probably about 6 weeks or so after we closed

But like I say, I was living with my folks, so not like I was paying rent. And I get along fantastically with my folks, so I wasn't really in a rush to get out of there (I'm still over there ~2 times a week for a couple hours a night to have dinner and hang out)
