While waiting for my background check to go through with the retail job and I get a call up for an interview for a real job today and the nerves are high. I don't want to have to have a minimum wage job AND pay union dues on top of that. I would much rather get this job and make more than twice the minimum wage and not deal with any people (literally a non-interactive clerical job). Fingers crossed!
I can help.

Frown: It wasn't by Arnold.

Smile: Although I haven't been fired ever, and I've been working since I was 13 and had to get a work permit, my wife and I are thrilled. I already have options, and unemployment would help, I'm still gravy.

Fix'd

I hate making fun of people, but not only were they negligent, but border-line obese... and there were EIGHT of them. You think out of eight people somebody would have realized bringing a newborn on a wildlife tour in July would be a horrible idea.

I didn't want to say, but I had an inkling that they were trying to get you to quit. I'm glad that you stuck to your guns though, as you get the benefits of unemployment while looking for a job that you will be more happy with!

:? Getting some work done on my car. Oh boy. This bill is gonna be like a kick in the testicles. And an estimated wait time was just given to me - three hours. Think I'm going to take a walk to another town to have lunch.

They gave no reason for the firing.

I don't want to sue them for wrongful termination, but I might. I'm already lawyered up, and if it doesn't cost me a penny, I'll follow through.

Expose them I will.

Yesterday there was an issue with my google calendar. I showed them, face to face, my exact schedule since they couldn't find it on their 1995 explorer browser.

They knew. They knew I was out on calls after lunch.

Yet they called my wife, stating "we don't know where Luke is!" sending my hot little number into a frenzy and leaving her vacation at the beach. My wife has been under enough stress lately, and how dare my boss call my wife on something that was not an emergency?

So my first words to my boss, who was sitting in my bunk ass office chair when I arrived to work (twenty minutes early at that, as usual) were "You do NOT call my emergency contacts unless there is an emergency".

She didn't like that. Not at all.

And that was that.

Holding off for now, but repercussions are coming. I told them "I'm smarter than you think" and they laughed. Good luck with their website and online info.

Yikes! Yeah they were definitely trying to push your buttons and get you to quit, for sure!

:( Taking a crash course on Pivot Tables with Excel. It looks easy, but I am worried I dug myself into a hole by telling the company that I am familiar with using Pivot Tables. (It looks really easy, but still!)

Ehhh... I doubt that'll be a fruitful endeavor. It sounds like the reason they fired you was "we think Luke is an asshole", which is fine, since you obviously think your boss is an asshole. But that's not wrongful termination.

Now, if it had been because you weren't willing to participate in the company beefcake calendar, then you'd have a case.

But it's good to see you're not too concerned about this. You should have no problems finding a new job.
