My favorite thrift store got a decent stack of games in last week. Those four finds were the best of the bunch. Most of the rest were sports games On the plus side, they are all complete and in excellent shape.

Yes, the Pokemon game is clearly a bootleg, but I couldn't help myself. For $1.50 for it and the case I thought it would be interesting to compare it to an official cart. Oh, and one of the clerks actually held it for me behind the counter because she "recognized the 'P'." I've trained them well, I have

But, believe it or not, my favorite of the finds was the PS2 adapter. It'll couple nicely with that other piece of bare hardware I found several months ago for $2.50.....

I always take a look at the VCRs in case a Laserdisc pops up and there it was today. A Pioneer CLD-v2600.

It had a disc of Paul Mccartney inside and it works perfectly. I spent a whopping $10 on that.

Sweet, it has one of the best features of Laser Players, the Jog Shuttle Dial right in the panel. If that is the "Broad Street" disc, it is close captioned. With a decoder you can Karaoke to the actual music videos, if you are into that. Ringo makes a cameo appearance, cool video disc! Thanks for reminding me of this, have to pop it in for another watch.

Finally! I bought the Jeff Minter Collection at a great price! Oh and four other Retro Gamer Collection Discs with cases included, looking forward to getting this! Now a wait for its long ocean cruise voyage. Waited years for this so another month or so is not bad I guess.

Couldn't stand it, also ordered the Retro Emag DVD Rom for under fifteen bucks shipped. States something about a compilation from the 1st three out of print eMags. Not sure if this is a compilation of articles from Retro Gamer Magazine? Oooh yeah, now to see which ship hits the dock first.

Funny because I've never even spotted cartridge based games at the local goodwills(and I really don't know of any other thrift stores besides maybe salvation army down here in NC)....I'm still waiting for the day my neighborhood does the annual yard sale....I know it's coming since we haven't had it yet....

I found a chap on a local buy/sell group who was selling off a handful of SNES carts. He sent me a pic that looked to contain mostly common stuff; Super Tennis, Mario Paint, ect. I asked him how much he wanted for the lot. He says $15 a game.

I instantly move to reply with the usual "thanks anyway" when I notice Sonic Blast Man 2 at the very back of the pic. It was kind of fuzzy so I didn't notice it at first but I'm certainly glad I took that second glance. $15 and a short drive later, I landed a pretty rare find.

I never actually played this as a kid but I had a ton of fun just playing the first couple of stages yesterday!

About the cartridge games at Goodwill..

I find these sometimes in the display case but most of the time it's hidden in basket of Leapfrog games, in the toy isle behind garbage, in the grab bag tubs or in the miscellaneous isle. I haven't once found one in the video game section. So if you have any places like that there then look for them in those spots. You have to look so hard to find things most of the time. My girlfriend usually finds the best stuff that I somehow glanced right at on the shelf and didn't notice it so cartridge games you're going to have to look even harder in that pile of trash for.

Found this on ebay for $25 shipped and listed as non working. It's pretty dirty but It'll clean up. Its also got some damage on the controller port unfortunately. Time to open it up.

Yeah I need to find a compatible power adapter for this thing. All of the ones I have don't fit.

I got one of these when they were relatively new and by today's standards they're not very impressive.

The build quality is nice and it looks pretty but the compatibility is not much better than cheap crap like the Yobo FC. It's annoying because Messiah was trying to push it as more than just the usual NOAC clone, but ultimately that's all it is put into a nicer looking package.

It's also got quite a death grip on the cartridges in the NES slot. It's one of the worst death grips I've ever encountered in a clone.

I still use mine for Famicom games until I have another option for them.
