Yeah Karma plays a big role in a lot of my game finds :). Just be patient and treat people with respect and good stuff happens. Throwing a few extra bucks someones way when you find something especially nice always helps as well.

Believe it or not, I have actually met a good number of people that don't even need a hobby to act like jerks.

But this isn't a hobby to most resellers this is their "livelihood". Collecting welfare checks and acting like a twat at yard sales is a harder job then most of us think :P.

I will admit there are some decent resellers out there. However for every respectable collector or reseller there are 20 dicks who are in it purely for the money and don't give a shit who they have to screw over to make a profit :P.

I know for a fact this guys is whom you speak of. I saw him almost every weekend last year, except he was only scooping toys at the time. I even saw him arguing with another seller at one sale.

I'm sure that ten or so years back he was after comics and likely sports cards before that. He's most definitely, THAT guy. He's probably the only person that would convince me to break my rule of never bidding against anyone at a sale; if it was something I really wanted, that is.

Everyone here has seen "THAT GUY." They are all over the place. I don't care for them anymore and I just like you guys say have patience. For me especially when im trying to get snes and genesis. I took my time and my gamestore finally got turtles for the genesis. Grant it I traded games for it and some other genesis games but it finally came and its now in my system.
I don't think about it or look as hard anymore. If I find a game then I find a game if not then I can wait to find it.
It is a little wrong how some of these resellers are assholes and are dicks to other people or push to get the game you were going to get but like someone said here karma is a bitch. In the end hopefully soon lol, we will be playing video games, the reseller market on games will crash, and those guys will be out of jobs... oh wait I mean they will have to look for jobs. Its cool if you have stuff you don't want anymore to play and wanna sell that or want to sell it here or donate or sell to friends or even getting a little side cash to take the family for vacation. But the way these guys do it is all wrong.

I've said it before and I think it's a good method: show up about 20 min early even if it says no early birds, but only walk over if it looks like there's some activity. If no one else is there and/or they're still setting up just hover from the car and scope things out til you feel the time is right.

Here is my method:

Don't go to sales that advertise video games on Craigslist. They are either: (1) full of people stalking the games; or (2) conducted by someone who expects above-market prices for their items. Just drive around town, stop at random yard sales, have fun, and get cool stuff for yourself other than video games. If you find some games, it is a nice bonus. But, if you go out "hunting" for them at yeard sales, you will probably be disappointed.

Seconded. You will find random cool stuff at those yardsales aswell.

One of my favorite random finds of all time was about a decade ago stopping at a random garage sale coming home from a hotel I was working at. The guy was a tech head from the mid 80s and had a bunch of parts from super computers and old home computers. We ended up talking for about two hours about computers and I bought some 10/100 switches from him for lan parties - showing up with a four 24 port switches makes you a hero.

^^^ Agree with this completely. I have found many useful yard tools and also some other cool hobby stuff such as vinyl records and audio electronics. It's good to look at a range of things to make the effort worthwhile.

Yeah the biggest thing about hunting is to not get tunnel vision. Just go out have fun and enjoy yourself. If you focus to much on games you can end up missing out on a lot of stuff and it really drains the fun out of the experience. Let the find of the day find you. Hunting should never feel like work :P.
