We would just have to email one another with a link to the listing right after it's posted just so no one else got it first. Hell we wouldn't even actually need to sell a game we could just drive the price down with fake listings and buying them with each other. I wonder what this would do to vgpc...

So who wants to go first and sell me Panzer Dragoon Saga for a buck?

If yr being serious, it wouldnt' work on two counts. The sample size would be too small, unless you have a dedicated team to do this. If games are "overpriced" you have to identify which games you are going to drive down. Let's see, SNES is high right now, right - so there's 700 we need to drive down.

Saturn / DC / NES, they're all high too, I mean, you'd have to have dozens of listings on thousands of games for a prolonged period to impact them.

So lets say a team or community did this. It would be obvious to others in the market that these are buy now's and they are suspicious listings. Most good resellers use completed auctions and not completed buy now's as a barometer.

Oh, and the fees, my goodness the fees. Final value fee on each $1 sale is $0.09, each listing fee is what $0.25 once you've used up your freebies, so you are going to spend $0.34 thousands of times to change the price of some games?

Oh, crap, I just wrote a book and i'm quite sure you were being fecetious

Half joke. I still think it would be hilarious to do with a dedicated team to a few games that rare pointlessly expensive because I'm sure it would have some kind of effect after about a month.

edit I would love to see what kind of effect, if any, could be made on the market with just some people trying to scam everyone into lowering prices on a couple of games. I think if it did work though it would probably end up being really bad in the long run because if it were possible to drive the prices down it would also be even easier to drive prices even higher.

How about if you think a game is priced too high you just move on and don't buy it and if you don't like the way a store or company operates you just don't shop there?

But that makes far too much sense...

A little GS rant. I wanted to buy Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon so I stopped by Fry's but they were out of stock. Next stop, Target. Target was also out. Next door to Target is a Game Stop. I didn't really want to go, but it was right there. I went in and asked if they had it in stock. Here's how it went down.

Me: Do you have Luigi's Mansion for 3DS in stock?"

GS Employee: "We're all out, I don't think we're getting any more."

Me: "Oh really? Why?"

GS Employee: "That was a very limited game, Nintendo is only having one print run."

Me: "I don't think so, that can't be true."

GS Employee: "Well, I'm pretty sure it's a limited game."

Me: "Can you check if the nearby store has it?"

GS Employee: "I guess I can, but I doubt anyone has this game, it's pretty rare"

Me: "Is there anybody else here, like a manager?"

GS Employee: "No, he's out on lunch, it's just me"

Me: "I'll call myself".

So I called another Game Stop which is about 5 miles away and put it on speakerphone (there were no other customers in the shop). I asked if they had Luigi's Mansion, and he said "No, but we're getting a bunch in on Thursday, come by or call on Thursday, we should have plenty" Before I said anything the guy said "I guess that store gets em all, wow, surprised there are still copies left!"

I picked up Luigi's Mansion today at Best Buy.

Extra points for the speaker phone.

So, how long do you think it'll be before it pops up on ebay as an "ultra rare collector's item"? Not that I think that would go anywhere, but it wouldn't surprise me to see people try.

Found this on the gamefaqs message board, felt good to read it, cause i really dislike gamestop employees (at least the ones like this and the ones at my local gamestop)

Not saying it's real, but would be nice if it was.

Went in to pre-order RE: Revelations and Splinter Cell. Guy takes my money with no issues, but as I'm leaving, he says "Only a few more months before you can blow the dust off your Wii U!". I tell him that there's no dust, that I use it almost every day. He asks me what games I'm playing, so I tell him a few (Monster Hunter, Lego City, Injustice). He tells me that those are all bad ports from PS3 and 360 games, I politely tell him that two of the three games are Wii U exclusive.

Here's where it gets pathetic. He tells me "Wii U doesn't even have Call of Duty!" I tell him that yes, it does, and no, I'm not interested in it. He tells me to prove it, says there's no way Activision would waste their time with Nintendo. I go to the Wii U section and grab Black Ops 2, 007 Legends, and Skylanders (All Activision games). Dump them on the counter, and walk out.

And this is why I go to Best Buy to get my games, unless if it's a GameStop exclusive, or I'm in some dire need for something that Best Buy doesn't have. Hell, I was able to get Fire emblem: Awakening without any issue a week after the game was released.
