Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. The 3D was kinda off, cuz they didn't use the standard red/blue glasses. They used some weird thing where it used hot-pink/green glasses, which made it looked weird, not like red/blue glasses.
Also, Smart People. I liked it, and Ellen Page was gr8 in it, and also kinda looked like a young Jessica Harper. Synopsis, via IMDb:
Lawrence Wetherhold is miserable and misanthropic: he's a widower, a pompous professor at Carnegie Mellon, an indifferent father to a college student and a high-school senior, and the reluctant brother of a ne'er-do-well who's come to town. A seizure and a fall send Lawrence to the emergency room where the physician, a former student of his, ends up going on a date with him. His daughter, Vanessa, lonely and friendless, who's been bonding with his brother, tries to sabotage dad and the doctor's relationship, but Lawrence is good at that without help. Is there any way these smart people can get a life? Can happiness be pursued beneath layers of irony?

Watched [REC] last night and screamed like a little girl at least once
Interesting take on the decline of cyberpunk Ack. But like you said we're not done with dystopian themes just yet. Perhaps we're never meant to.
Anyone else seen Max Payne? Like I said before, too much noir and too little action.

Yeah, for the record I was slightly drunk when I wrote that.

on halloween I went and saw Quantum of Solace, that was very poor I thought. An ok action movie but a poor bond movie.
I watched Cloverfield (finally) the day after and thought it was pretty good.

Well, I finally watched The Big Lebowski for the first time. It was...very different from what I expected. I didn't think it was laugh-out-loud hilarious(I was told it was going to be...), but I connected with the main character and his friends in a weird way, so...yeah. I'd say it was really good.

I pretty much laugh non-stop at it. Seen it maybe 4 times now.

Saw part of "The Wizard of Oz" today. It was on TNT, and simulcasted on TBS, and I caught it just after they encounter the Cowardly Lion.

Watched 300 the other day. Just as good as it always was, and all the awesome stuff that I loved the first time I saw it was still fresh the second time around (I saw it in theaters opening night in Citywalk at Universal Studios), however the part that I liked best was the one part I had somehow forgotten about, when the queen stabs the corrupt senator who raped her. Justice in its purest form right there. Also, the second time around I got the importance of the line: "I hope you live forever." at the end of the movie.
Good Stuff.

The Natural - still one of the silliest movies that is filmed at a grandmaster level.

Good stuff? Mindless entertainment yes, and the cinematography was fresh, but the plot was weaker than a visual novel (incidentally it was based upon one). I felt 300 appealed to the agitated teenager crowd the most, those types who are mad at ancient Persians who had nothing at all to do with the current global climate. Perhaps I should watch it a second time to see what the fuss was all about? It was a unanimously critical flop so I doubt I'll discover anything new.
And yes, the Big Lebowski is hilarious in its own peculiar way. I did catch Sideways the other evening. It's good but critics went bonkers with it for no apparent reason. I suspect this will happen whenever they make this sort of "intelligent romantic comedy". Maddox thought it was overrated and I agree with him (sadly he seldom update his blogs anymore). For laugh out loud I thought Galaxy Quest was funny as well (particularly the part where Daryl Mitchell's character had to pilot the NSEA Protector and he was screaming all the time

), at least the first half before they got all serious and heroic.
