Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III – the Manhattan Project

Post by sayewonn »

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III - the Manhattan Project review is up http://www.classic-games.net/tmnt-iii-t ... n-project/ #TMNT #Nintendo #teenagemutantninjaturtles

A late release but still a good one. The Manhattan Project was obviously built on the foundation of the NES port of the arcade game. But that doesn't stop it from being a good game. The SNES port of Turtles in Time stole some of its thunder but this is still a great way to kill an afternoon.

Jewel Master

A really cool magic system can't save this one from ugly graphics and mediocre level design. The ring system deserved to be in a better game and I would love to see a remake.

Rise of the Dragon

A cool underrated adventure game for the Sega CD. Games like Rise of the Dragon and Snatcher made me wish there were more adventure games for the Sega CD. I love the atmosphere and story and for the most part the puzzles aren't complex. The conversations and the permanent fail states are frustrating but the game's short length kind of makes up for it if you need to start over. Excellent voice acting round out the package, shame about the green filter and dithering that plague the art.

Star Fox

The frame rate can be hard to stomach now but I still feel Star Fox is a great game. Replaying this makes me wish Nintendo would simply follow the template established here but with a larger galaxy. If it ain't broke don't fix it I say.

Clockwork Knight

Clockwork Knight review is up http://www.classic-games.net/clockwork-knight/ #Sega #ToyStory

A next generation showcase for its time but not something that you'll be return to over and over again. I feel Sega had a real chance to do something cool with the toy concept but instead simply made a bog standard platformer, and not an exceptionally good one either.

Goldeneye 007

Still just as great as it was back in 1997, Goldeneye is a classic. Just stay the hell away from the multiplayer; keep your pleasant memories as just that, memories.

Jet Grind Radio

Stylish as hell with the gameplay to back it up, Jet Grind Radio was one of my favorite games in 2000 next to SSX and is one of the Dreamcast's best games. Considering you can usually buy it for $5 on Steam or it is usually given away for free you have no reason not to play this gem.

Silpheed - the Lost Planet

Post by sayewonn »

This was a hard one to judge. I like many aspects of it but it also disappointed me in many ways. At the very least it is easier and more accessible than the Sega CD prequel and is still pretty. But the gameplay can be a little boring at times. You'll have to play it yourself and considering its usually a few bucks at most you won't break the bank to see if you like it.

Still pretty unique with a fantastic story and atmosphere, Eternal Darkness is one of the GameCube's best exclusives.
