You're right! I edited my post to note that I haven't played it!

$40 is a small price to put on loooooove.

Contra really is one of the best run-and-guns ever. I actually didn't like Contra III as much as either of the two NES games.

So after some username/email issues I've been looking at the few recommendations I received and had some more ideas of things I want to play. Here is my tentative ten:

1. Mario Bros 2 (NES)

2. Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

3. Guardian Heroes (SS)

4. God of War (PS2)

5. Panzer Dragoon (SS)

6. Dragon Quest VI (SNES)

7. The Movies (PC)

8. Doom Ultimate Edition (PC)

9. Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (PS2)

10. Mario Golf (N64)

My desire to complete Mario Bros 2 and Res Evil 2 is low I must admit as I have pretty good memories of them and getting 10 games done over the next few months seems unlikely anyway. Any discussion/recommendations/comments appreciated.

if those are your feelings going into this, then I'd recommend bumping those in favor of two games you'd at least be excited to play. I mean, SMB2 is really a rather short game, but... I can tell you from experience that if you're not into all 10 games (and even if you are), staying focused on the list can be daunting.

On a related note, I've still not really come up with any games that feel compelling enough for me to make my own list. But if you guys managed to come up with a list of 10 games that fit this criteria: (A) classic/cult-classic, (B) I haven't played them, or least not substantially, and (C) are less than 10 hours to beat - then I'd at least consider attempting.

Yeah it's probably the only one that doesn't fit the classics title I guess but with Lionhead closing down recently I wanted to go back and play something I enjoyed of theirs. Unlike many I did enjoy The Movies and would have loved an expansion/mods/sequel.

>1. Mario Bros 2 (NES)

If you mean the USA version, excellent game. My favorite 2D Mario.

>Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

Fun and short, worth playing through.

>5. Panzer Dragoon (SS)

Nice rail shooter that's not too hard and is a pleasant audio-visual experience.

>8. Doom Ultimate Edition (PC)

DOOM is just as great today as it ever was. Definitely a classic FPS.

>3. Guardian Heroes (SS)
>4. God of War (PS2)
>6. Dragon Quest VI (SNES)
>7. The Movies (PC)
>9. Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (PS2)
>10. Mario Golf (N64)

I haven't put enough time into any of those to offer a fair opinion.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
