Project Justice/Rival Schools always felt like Marvel VS mechanics with sidesteps.

How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Well... yeah, that's because it borrows heavily from the Vs series and it's more than just the high jump (Aerial Raves, Variable Combination/Team Up Technique and yes even Magic Series Combos known as Text Book Combos is this game), but that's only on the surface. Project offers some more interesting game mechanics that are entirely unique to the game which include...AppleQueso wrote:Project Justice/Rival Schools always felt like Marvel VS mechanics with sidesteps.

- A 3 tier Throw system (Air, Crouch, and Neutral throws).
- A Clash system on projectiles.
- Break it Up! System which is a wonderful foil to the abusive Team Up Technique.
- Variable Combination Variety, providing not only your typical damage inflicting attacks, but boosting properties to replenish Health, Super Meter or even both with a particular team mate.
- Tardy Counters. Perhaps the most unique mechanic and easily the most significant in high level play.
School's out!

Whew, so I'm not crazy then! I know the game has a lot more to offer than that.CD AGES wrote:Well... yeah, that's because it borrows heavily from the Vs series and it's more than just the high jump (Aerial Raves, Variable Combination/Team Up Technique and yes even Magic Series Combos known as Text Book Combos is this game), but that's only on the surface.AppleQueso wrote:Project Justice/Rival Schools always felt like Marvel VS mechanics with sidesteps.

Really fun game though with an awesome and unique "theme" for a fighter. Capcom seriously neglects the franchise too, which is a shame. Screw a new Darkstalkers, I want a new Rival Schools!
Okay I actually want both, but still!

And really weird too considering how they milk other franchises.AppleQueso wrote:Capcom seriously neglects the franchise too, which is a shame.
By now we should've had Rival Schools 4 EX+ Alpha - The Student's Dream... :

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I just got Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super-Heroes in the mail! I've been covetting that game for a loooong time.
I had it originally with my new Dreamcast back in the day. But I up-traded all my original Dreamcast stuff for an XBox when I saw Morrowind.
It's like my favorite fighting game of all-time.

Been neglecting the DC. Still need to pick up PSO ver 2 and Elemental Gimmick Gear.

Let me know if you manage to get online with PSO ver 2. I've been meaning to get back on during the weekends.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Been neglecting the DC. Still need to pick up PSO ver 2 and Elemental Gimmick Gear.

You guys are missing out. It plays like a Zelda game, and does a great job at it. But story and world it's in has a little steam-punk mixed into the fantasy. And some good looking 2D sprites in this one.jinx wrote:Let me know if you manage to get online with PSO ver 2. I'm honestly only interested in the single-player stuff. MMORPGs do nothing for me.jinx wrote:Let me know if you manage to get online with PSO ver 2. I recently picked up a sealed copy of Bangai-o, is it worth opening to play it? I paid around 50 bucks for it
