There is a Black convertible 2008 Corvette with 30k on it that I am seriously tempted to buy. I know I won't buy it, but it's one of those deals that is extremely difficult to pass up on and I'll end up saying "I should have" a million times in the future.
Bitchin Betty and the 80's Zs have nothing on the Z32s.
Lets just say I'm thankful to live in a family that has one Twin Turbo and another track-ready NA 2+2.
One day I hope to own an FD RX-7. Hopefully there will be a day I can have one.
I put in my CAI yesterday. In an MX-5 there's pretty much no power to be tapped so it's completely cosmetic and for sound only. That said, it wails and it sounds so fantastic. Induction noise > exhaust noise.
looks more like a WAI, not that the gains will vary, just saying

Might try fixing your formatting there.
Anyways, what you can't see is the vent leading to the underside of the front fender. At best, I might lose one or two horsepower on a hot day running it hard. The stock airbox has a snorkel sat in front of it, but on the K&N it just sits the filter right there instead.
Basically any impact it has is negligible, despite what some of the "hardcore stock" Miata owners will tell you.

Re: What car do you drive?
probably not much room to run an intake down in a miata, but you'd think after the MAF the thing would bend toward the headlight enclosure instead.

There's no room there for the filter. As I said there's a vent in the fender that pushes air up into where the filter is. The engine definitely isn't starved, though some people like to build in custom isolation such as this one.
I may do something like that eventually. But I'm not so sure it's worth my time. Mazda did a pretty damn good job getting all they could out of the engine. Unless you go into forced induction there's only about 8 total HP you can squeeze out of the stock motor with intake, headers, exhaust, etc.

That isolation box is still being heated by the engine compartment. The fresh air draw might work when going down the freeway, has little help in slow traffic.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:There's no room there for the filter. THIS. Even my Mazda MPV had the air filter duct going to the front right at the grill for a fresh air draw. Since the already car is modified, maybe run a hood scoop on top for more direct air? The scoop can contain the filter if the tube is shortened and relocated upwards. I have a scoop right above my filter which has no tube, just a top inlet filter right above the carb. Outside fresh air even at a stoplight with garfield removed of course.JsGameRoom wrote:that may be the worst intake design i've ever seen
