I finally got the Clawshots!! Yay, now I'm making my way back round the areas collecting the chests and Godess Cubes that I couldn't reach before.

I'm still really loving it

I gave up on this one. It just isn't fun to play at all, and frankly, I think Twilight Princess was MUCH better. At least I finished that one, trying to finish Skyward right now feels like the equivalent of torture. It's a horrible game that feels very outdated and has horrible controls, stupid combat, annoying camera, too much pointless dialog, slow as hell pacing, and some of the worst design I've seen in a Zelda game, not to mention the stupid as hell sounds everyone makes because we still can't get a Zelda game in 2011 with voice acting.

Skyward Sword feels like an aging relic of a game. This could have been an N64 game if the N64 had stupid, waggle controls. This series is on the fast track to nowhere

You know, I just find it odd. This game obviously tries a lot of new ideas and attempts to really move the series forward in a lot of areas. Guess it's too little, too late or something?

Oh well, I guess most Zelda games since OOT have had at least one aspect that breaks the game for some people. Majora's Mask had the 3-day thing, Wind Waker had the sailing, and I guess this one has the controls. TP didn't really have any single aspect like that, just kinda had a lot of little things that compounded.

Oh well. I get your problems with the controls, most of the rest of the complaints you have feel strange, especially for a Zelda game. You don't like what you don't like I guess.

I beat it with a 65 hour save file this weekend. I'd have trouble picking between a B+ and A-. Probably, removing my positive Nintendo bias and the fact that playing through it with my significant other added a layer of fun, I'd end up at B+. One thing I haven't seen written about much that just DIDN'T connect with me is the storytelling. I actually think Zeldas with a small story told 'smally' work better than this attempt to elevate with goofy cutscenes and Japanese grunts.

changed my mind again after listening to some music on youtube [credits song]. A. This game is amazing and just needed a little more critical feedback during testing to iron out the few-too-many wrinkles keeping it from masterpiece level. Listening to the music reminds me,
it was so neat they included scenes of Zelda visiting the temples as Link was pursuing her. Good idea and very cinematic!

Everything else is a matter of opinion, but if you think the controls are horrible, odds are good you're playing the game wrong. Its a very different way of playing a game, and it takes some time to "get". It took me about an hour to get used to the control scheme, but afterward I found it intuitive and fun.

edit:However, left handed people are excused in their complaints.

If it's intuitive it wouldn't take an hour to get. He may be doing it wrong but that doesn't mean the controls are great. Great controls are intuitive, as I think you'd agree. Intuitive would mean there wouldn't be multiple major reviews saying the controls are iffy. I found the jab and the skyward sword charging finicky. And I was constantly having to recalibrate when dowsing or viewing in first person or flying [basically, when the axis was the wiimotion+ rather than analog stick]

It sounds like he didn't play through the first dungeon. Once I got partway through that, my complaints were mostly resolved.

The only problem I have with the controls is the unexpected behavior when first entering first person mode.
