Here are my excuses in no particular order. Have never played GITS-SAC for PS2 before. I can't play FPS games for crap with a console controller. Wipoutguy had all of the characters unlocked for multiplayer and I chose the funny looking guard robot thinking it would be cool and unusual. It had a machine gun, couldn't pick up any weapons or the invisibility cloak, and couldn't jump. It was completely useless. The match was set for first to 20 frags and I was killed 40 times between the 3 other guys and only managed 8 kills total.

It was a respectable number of people and it went great. I've known Wipeoutguy for years and some of his friends came, but otherwise we were all strangers other than through forums and things. Redline9 was new and Pat was from the Neo Geo forums but everyone got along great and it was fun. :D

Hobie deserves a hearty applause for his Ghost in the Shell performance. He stuck with it when I would have tossed the controller. The guy was in video game purgatory.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I am putting together video right now. There isn't much, but I think I can make a solid 4 min overview.

Stay tuned. I am already thinking up possible Central Texas meet ideas. I want to do this again in January or February. Onemanfilmcrew should be here by then. His pending move to Austin was the reason we put this together and he wasn't able to attend in the end. We got you next time, man. *thumbs up*

We'll have to be a little more 'pro-Nintendo' this January. I'm thinking F-Zero GX would be a must.

Also, do you have a good email, Wipeout? I've got two or three more pics to send your way.

Definitely. We will have another unique theme for the next meeting.

I blame Wipeoutguy for that. :P Other than the N64 I just bought for him, he has no Nintendo stuff and it just never came up. If I could make it next time or could try to set something up here I have systems for possibilities.

Yep, the 64 I bought from Hobie this weekend is the first Nintendo system I have owned in 15 years.

However, that was not the reasoning behind the games and systems chosen for the meeting. I thought using primarily Sega systems kind of fit in with the underlying Sega-centric theme of Racketboy. Also, classic Nintendo is en vogue right now. I wanted to show people a different experience - to try something outside the pop cultured norm.

You must buy an SNES or a system that plays SNES games (retroN3). It's probably the greatest system ever made.
