No need to apologize, CRTgamer seems to always think whoever posts after him is talking to him directly.
Well if it is not a PM, its posted for everyone to read and respond. But my apologies to fastbilly1 for quoting to my response.
I was just adding info about a long running non-YLOD Fat PS3 inside a Kisok.
Fixed my statement for better understanding  I am only teasing you CRTgamer. You did the same thing to me once and it made my statement appear different then what I intended just like fastbilly's.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

I think it's good that amazon refunded the money (credit wise). While sony might not listen to us and it would be hard to make a joint lawsuit from consumers alone. If Amazon has to keep giving refunds they can make the case for us against Sony or better yet stop selling their products till something is done. I don't know how much of Sony's sells comes from Amazon, but I am sure its nothing to sneeze at.
If Amazon manages to turn around and successfully sue Sony to get their money back, that would be great but Amazon does not deserve to lose money from Sony's fuck up.
Hey, I don't think Amazon deserves it just like I don't think we the consumers deserve what Sony has done. But since its UK law we are not screwing Amazon, Sony is by selling them a product with certain features to sell to others and then taking away certain features.
Agree, Amazon who is just a reseller, shouldn't have to eat the refund. But good that they are, a start to put pressure on Sony to fix or help Amazon recoup their loss. Maybe Sony might do the right thing and re-open Linux and maybe I'll start seeing a Sega Naomi Dreamcast 2 get back in the 3-Ring Brick monopoly circus. I wonder which, if either will happen?

Looks like one person was able to get some $$ back, so maybe more will have luck if they raise a fuss. Niode, since this person cited a UK law you may be able to go the same route...
That's the exact reason I stated when I sent the letter to Sony. I have yet to receive a response... I bought my first PS3 from Argos, so I will send them a letter also.

In the US big companies may be able to shaft you and you don't give a shit, but in Europe we're actually protected against this kind of behaviour.

I hope that we can get some resolution to this soon. I haven't turned my PS3 on in almost 3 weeks!

Why did you update? You can still use 3.15 on PSN using a DNS redirect, if you're desperate to use PSN then you could set 67.202.81.137 as your primary DNS in your connection settings.

I accuatly updated "before" that fix came out. I just never said anything. The thing that bothers me is i "have" $20 on my ps3 account. And barring me from using the $20 that i have in there would piss me off also. I suppose I could have "spent" it before april 1st, but seriously I was hoping it was a aprils fool joke. I am still waiting to see if sony gives people partial refunds or adds it back.

You can still play off line or do Niode's work around.

The reason I have not turned it on is because my wife likes to watch streaming netflix movies while I'm on the road (which is pretty often during the work week). I can use it as an excuse for her to not "accidentally" update the system while I'm gone, if you know what I mean.

I haven't tried the work around, maybe I'll give it a whirl on Friday when I'm back home.

That fix has worked ever since the second firmware version came out. It's not a new fix.
