This is the first time I've ever beaten the game without using a warp whistle. I still collected two of them, but decided to beat every stage and level. I remember the levels being much longer. The underground and water levels take longer to complete, but still are relatively short. I gave up and used the P-Wing on the airship, but didn't have to use many power-ups until the 8th level. The SMB.3 advanced looks great, but I really appreciate the 8-bit charm.

Excellent game! I beat it on easy, and then immediately afterward on normal to unlock the other two playable characters. I won't lie, I had to up my lives to the max in the options menu to beat this, but I can't say I'm ashamed considering how hard the game was!

^That last rotating stage is pretty awesome, ain't it?
And Contra Rebirth has such a great replay value. If only you could play online co-op, it would be about perfect.

I loved the rotating stage! It actually gave me quite a bit of trouble on normal. It caught me off guard, as I had just beat it on easy and didn't know that the extra part was on the normal difficulty.Luke wrote:^That last rotating stage is pretty awesome, ain't it?
I also really enjoyed the entire 4th stage, where you hang from the platform as it descends into the cave.
I second that. I would LOVE to play this game on multiplayer, but the wife won't have it and my son is too young to understand the controls. It's so hard to get any of my friends over during the week, and weekends are usually spent with the family, so unfortunately XBLA is the only way we can all game together. Contra ReBirth would have been an excellent game to play with them!Luke wrote:And Contra Rebirth has such a great replay value. If only you could play online co-op, it would be about perfect.

I'm on the last airship of SMB3 myself. But no powerups left. No P-Wing to use. And I'm small Mario. Sigh.
