OMG! Space Harrier is way harder than I remember!

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

of course Golden Axe is better than Altered Beast. Most things are better than Altered Beast. But they are both 'bad classics'.

Golden Axe isn't perfect, but I wouldn't call it bad.

Unlike Space Harrier, that game sucks.

The same team @ Sega did Golden Axe and Altered Beast, so take that as what you will.

Space Harrier was all right. The version on Sega Arcade Gallery (GBA) was a good portable port.

If it was not so expensive, I would own it.

The only Golden Axe with a healing spell.

Don't forget this is the same company that made NiGHTS (my friend's favorite game to play while high) and Super Monkey Ball.

Gunstar Green wrote:I agree with the sentiment that Golden Axe isn't great in retrospect and is a "bad classic", I feel the same about the original arcade Double Dragon.

I tend to reach for Golden Axe II over it since the actual gameplay is more polished. Having a back attack changes everything and the overall hit detection just seems more solid but that might be my imagination.
I thought the original Axe had a back attack. One hit knockdown. And Axe was better, IMO, than Double Dragon. DD introduced some really interesting mechanics, but the hit detection was very questionable, as was the jumping.
