--Edit: Oops didn't see that elvis already mentioned something similar! Sorry!

Considering that the SFIV arcade cabinet runs on a Taito Type X2, it's more or less already ported to the PC. If they screw up the home release, I'd be surprised.

I preordered the 360 version and the TE stick. I'm starting to build up a damn nice arcade stick collection!

That doesn't bode well.

Here's hoping the arcade/SF team handle the PC release, and it's not the same people as other console ports. But breaking good games with crap DRM seems to be an industry trend at the moment.

There is rumour that SF4 will be handled by Steam, but I haven't seen anything to back that up yet.

The arcade setup for this game is no slacker as PC hardware goes and runs on embedded XP. Given the overhead Vista and other programs add to a PC, I imagine it will require a significantly more power machine to get that "arcade perfect" look.

yeh I intend to get both 360 and PS3 versions - probably the collector editions

I might get the Stick for the 360, but I'm definitely going to try to get the pads for both - they will be the first decent pads for either 360 or PS3 - unfortunately a lot of online shops in the UK have tightened up their exporting policies so I cant find anywhere to pre-order them from that will deliver here (Ireland) - so I'm just going to have to wait till they're actually out and go to war on eBay :s

I'll likely get it for 360. Really want that stick... But I'll likely get two pads instead so I can local play with friends, too.

For starters I won't be using Vista. It's an abomination. The arcade system uses XPe and DX9, so XP will be good enough for home use.

Minimal install with XPLite/nlite/whatever, turn off all the GUI bling crap, and all will be well.

XPe is not significantly faster than XP for actually running applications. It's major benefit is low memory usage and fast startup times. The former can be overcome with more RAM (and SF4 isn't a massive game as far as the engine goes - a modest machine with 1GB RAM will be plenty). The latter is merely a matter of patience during boot up and initial game load. Once loaded, you won't notice many differences.

I don't play PC games generally, so 64bit Vista, 8GB RAM, quad SLI video and all that other money-wasting business necessary to squeeze out 10FPS in Crysis don't interest me. 2.4GHz Core2, 1GB RAM and a mid-level DX9 card will do the trick, and probably cost you less new than a PS3. :)

It's worth noting also that many arcade ops are running SF4 at 720p (1280x720 or 1366x768 depending on monitor) on 32" screens. Folks running this at home on 1080p 40"+ screens will be getting much better than "arcade perfect".

In other news, GameKyo have some nice high res shots up of the SF4 pads and sticks:

A few of the guys on the OzHadou forums have already pre-ordered 2 sticks each, ready for release day. :)

Anyone have any good links or go to places for a good arcade style fighter stick for the PS3? I've read the thread and was surprised to find that they were being made for modern systems.

I downloaded SFIITRemix on the PS3 and the Analog stick is a myth with this game, and I can see bone on my thumb from the D-Pad....

The HRAP3 is what you want to get. $90 is a great deal. Until very recently, you had to import those for a lot more. The Fighting Stick 3 is tempting at $50, but it kind of sucks compared to the HRAPs. The HRAP has a real Sanwa stick and the buttons are easily replaced if you ever want to put arcade ones in. I have the equivalent of the Fighting Stick 3 for the 360 and the stick is really inaccurate compared to the Sanwa used in the HRAPs.

The SFIV TE stick that's coming out will pretty much be the best commercially released arcade stick ever, but the preorders are mostly sold-out already.
