It featured the full rosters from both Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers with move rosters and more 3-dimensional gameplay, which was fan service enough. They took the fan service several steps further with the inclusion of Virtua Fighter Kids characters, Janet from Virtua Cop 2, Bark the Bear and Bean the Dynamite from Sonic the Fighters, Rent-A-Hero, and most awesome of all, the Hornet Car from Daytona USA (the car grabs onto its opponent with one wheel, and burns rubber with the other on one special attack).
Um, it wasn't. It came out in early '97, the last Saturn releases in the US were about mid '98. The game is very fan-servicey though. =)
Bwuh? Really? Then why didn't Virtua Fighter 3 come out on the Saturn. I read that Fighters Megamix was kind of an "Oh, we don't have enough time to get this game out on the Saturn. Sorry! Here's Bean the Dynamite!". Someone, somewhere on the internet lied to me, and I will have my vengeance.

I bought it in '98, anyway. I remember it quite clearly, actually. There I was thinking: I love Virtua Fighter 2. I love Fighting Vipers. Sega is the greatest company ever.

Tekken has some fan service in it. Gon is a character from a manga that has absolutely no right to be in that game. And you know- boxing kangaroo, and a samurai robot. Just weird, but stuff that fans of fighting games eat up.

for those unaware of gon:

You could also argue that every bruce lee clone in a fighting game is fan service. Like fei long from street fighter.

I would say fact techmo coined the term 'breast physics' is total fanservice. In fact, i would say the definition of fan service for video games is Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball

oh really? A fighting game turned into a bikini sports game? That sounds like it has some great game mechanics! Sign me up!

Isn't Sega Ages 2500 pretty much the largest fanservice endeavour ever attempted?

No one has mentioned Shenmue I & II's gashapon? I'm shocked.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games
