Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Been playing games forever, like all of you, but somehow I never played Chrono Trigger/Cross.

I don't know why, I just never got into them for some reason. Obviously I've heard everyone over the years call Trigger one of the best games ever made, etc. So you guys think I should pick up the DS rerelease that's dropping soon?

It almost seems daunting, you know? I'm almost afraid to play it after hearing how amazing it is all these years. It can't possibly live up to what people say...
I don't know how well the game is going to translate to a portable experience, at least in the sense of only playing for a little bit here and there. I remember that when I first heard about the ds port, I was kind of upset that it wasn't going to be a remake, like ffiii and ffiv. However, now I'm quite glad that it's going to look more or less like the original version. Anything else would remove most of the nostalgia/charm. That being said, if you've never played chrono trigger, and don't want to buy the original (somewhat expensive), I would pick up FF chronicles for the playstation. It's Chrono trigger and Final Fantasy IV, and can probably still bought new for under 20$. Not to say the ds version won't still be good, but it's quite a bit more expensive. (I still think I'll pick it up though :p)

id say emulate it (if you know how to, its not hard though) to test it out if you like it them pick up whatever type you want. id say you might want to get the ds one cause it will be easy to find but the trigger for the ps1/anthology is also good and cheep.

Yeah I know, I was more highlighting the way that because it was similar in name, people expected a direct sequel. I know SOM and SOE have nothing to do with one another when the Chrono games do,although not in the story from what I understand. I own, yet have never played chrono cross.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad.
