Is Sonic Rush a series? I thought it was one game
I'm actually thinking about checking out Sonic Rush and maybe the Sonic Advance games. I am hoping they will erase the bad taste Sonic 4 left in my mouth, but it seems like it is from the same developers
Didn't know Sonic Colors was on the DS. I thought it was a Wii game

Re: Top DS Games?
I just got Plants Vs Zombies and love it. I've played it on the PC before but am enjoying it again on the DS. It just came out yesterday. I like the Vs mode where you can do DS download play where one person is the Zombies and the other is the Plants. Good two player fun.
The graphics aren't as good as the PC version (of course) but it's still load of fun if you like puzzles/tower defense games.
I also finished Picross 3D recently which is another excellent puzzle game.

Second on these recommendations. Be wary of Super Mario 64 DS though. A number of people hated the controls. I found the controls taking a bit getting used to and didn't mind them after awhile.

There's a second Rush game. I got annoyed at the first one because there were a few too many bullshit pits that would punish you for going fast.

It's both.
The games I've played since the 2008 post that have been good:
Infinite Space
Etrian Odyssey series
Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light
Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals
Golden Sun Dark Dawn
Dragon Quest series
Castlevania series
Mega Man ZX series
Shin Megami Tensei series

What you said about Sonic Rush bugged me a bit with Sonic 4. Some parts of the levels were quite cheap, but I disliked that game's level design in general.
I will need to check out MMZX. The Castlevania games that I have played have indeed been pretty awesome(though Order of Ecclesia seemed like a bit of a step backwards, still a good game though). Lot of rpg goodness on the DS. That is one area both the DS and the PSP seem to deliver in
Now I heard there is a Starfox game on the DS that focuses entirely of aerial combat. Can anyone vouch for its quality? I miss me some Starfox action, been such a very long time since Starfox 64 was released.

Re: Top DS Games?
Oh yeah, I've played Star Fox Command. Here's the way the game works. At the start you have a map screen. You draw a flight path for each of your ships which is limited to a certain distance. Then when you're happy both you and the enemy ships take your turn. Enemy ships have a highly predictable flight plan. If you run into an enemy ship or facility you'll engage in combat. Combat is All Range Mode with one of a few objectives. Sometimes you have to kill a certain number of a specific enemy. Sometimes you are chasing down a missile. And sometimes you need to destroy a large boss ship. Once all the combats are resolved you have done a single turn. You have a limited number of turns to complete the overall map objective (which tends to be attack a specific end base).
After each map there's a branching plotline. On your first playthrough you're locked to plot 1, but on subsequent playthroughs you can choose your path. Your ship selection varies based upon the plot you're on, and the ships are pretty varied. Different ships have different handling, primary weapons, and number of bombs.
The flight controls are completely stylus based, but it works extremely well. Overall it's a fun game, though some of the alternate storylines have really nasty missions in them.
