The Golden Sun duo and the Fire Emblem series will always have a special place in my heart. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest continue to battle for my affections.
I loved the first Star Ocean and and the Tales series gets my interest once or twice. And there is always, of course, Paper Mario.
What is your favorite rpg series?
Re: What is your favorite rpg series?
I can't name just one favorite.. but Legend of Dragoon, Star Ocean, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Xenosaga, and Epheremal Fantasia have been my favorites. (I wish I could get the previous Mouse games- character from E. F.)
Anyway, Legend of Dragoon was much more challenging and interactive than Final Fantasy's fight scenes since timing was very important. I have a special place in my heart for PS1-PS2 games with multiple discs
Star Ocean seemed so massive and epic that when coupled with things like item creation, which will entertain me for hours because of my completion-obsessiveness, I am completely absorbed in the world..some of the most fun I had was reading up on the in-game encyclopedia (yet SO3 was a huge letdown with the characters and expansiveness).
My love for Chrono Trigger/Cross should be the same for any other rpg fan.
Xenosaga I & II were fun, but II really crippled my immersion in the world for the changes they made in battle, character designs, and plot advancement. Oh well.
E.F. was originally made for the Dreamcast then ported to the PS2- and it wasn't done well. Most who played it only know of the PS2 version and complain of the long and frequent load times, yet I still found it very enjoyable. I liked the character designs and humor and the dynamic, swiveling camera view in battle scenes.
Now that I'm playing Landstalker, I may have a new fav soon
Oh, and Golden Sun and Fire Emblem too... well, I like all rpgs I've tried except for Eternal Ring...
