But I enjoyed it. I definitely felt like it was a nice show piece for the 360/PS3 era hardware anyway. (That said, XIII-2 is even better).

@Hipster: Yikes. I spent most of my RDR time in the saloon playing cards. But I wouldn't bother gambling against a dude who can do THAT.

Yeah, right?
FF is one of many series iI'm yet to experience for the first time HLTB clocks it around 50 hrs to finish but I think it's manageable this year, i'm playing the Steam version, any known major issues with it guys?

I did play Vanquish recently and just realized that that was from 2010. It does subvert your expectations for the cover shooters of that era. It has a great sense of speed which I love in shooters, mostly because of your sliding jetpack system. The problem is that the environments are so grey and drab that it eventually looks incredibly stale. Surprised it's so obscure considering that it was made from the guy who did the Resident Evil games.

Oh god Mount & Blade: Warband is also from 2010. I played that religiously before I ditched video games for a while. It is incredibly difficult but amazing, and if you want a great power fantasy and tons of fun you should try it with cheats as well.

@PretentiousHipster:
Are you me?
Man, when i finally got to play Vanquish i was completely crushed, i almost hated it despite finishing it.
Mount & Blade is awesome, i remember discovering the first one and spending a whole weekend playing nothing but it, amazing concept.
If you care, the Xbox One port is VERY competent, it plays great and the online is active.

I've said it before, but Kirby's Epic Yarn is the best game to co-op with a young kid.

No deaths, and a straggling player automatically teleports to the one in the lead. Impossible to get "stuck" on scenery and whatnot.

Plus, ya know, it's Kirby.

I remember playing it years ago and fell in love with the game's style.

Don't really wanna do a play-by-play of Red Dead Redemption, but something even more strange happened:

I was trying to find my horse so I went to the place where they're hitched.

Image

Hmm, just 2 people there, but no horse, that's strange. No big deal, I'll just call my horse

Image

Wait. What? Why is the pastor running towards me now? Maybe just a coincidence?

Image

Oh god. Look at the radar. My horse is actually part of animorphs!

Image

And before you ask... yes I tried to see if I could ride him. Unfortunately I couldn't.

Wait, what? You're telling me they wouldn't let you ride Paster Horse?

I fired up Metroid Other M today. I knew this one had a sort of divisive reputation. And I was a bit apprehensive about using the Wii mote sideways (NES-style) for a 3D game. But so far, it seems like it just really works. The opening tutorial thing felt really boring. But now that I'm in the game proper, I'm already enjoying it more than I expected. I should note, I'm not a big fan of 3D platformers in general. But somehow this feels like a 2D Metroid on a 3D plane. If that makes sense.

It does seem way more linear so far than your typical Metroid game. But I'm okay with that. I honestly really like the style of the visuals and everything so far. I haven't played much - just an hour or so. But I have high hopes now.

It’s a weird game with its share of issues. Strangely, it really opens up after you roll the credits, but it is worth playing through to the amazingly awesome “true” final boss.

It's a known glitch, but the really fun one is when the pastor's model and texture gets accidentally applied to a mountain lion.

All you see is flesh and fervent religion diving claws out for your face out of nowhere and then crawling off on all fours, leaving you in a ragdolled pile wondering what hideous thing just mauled you to death without mercy.

So, today i've spent my entire evening playing Vancouver 2010 and had a blast, it needs a bit of getting used to but after you master the mechanics of each event it's great fun.

I consider it "beaten" since you can jump in any event at your pace but getting Gold in each one was beyond my skills and patience.
