I might have to sort of play out of bounds this month. My gaming budget is super tight right now. But I could play Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, which is a portable game; it's just not exactly 'retro' yet. :?

Don't forget that Silent Hill 0rigins has a PS2 port, if you are incredibly limited on options!

Just to make a list of the ideas so far for portable horror themed games plus a few others:

PSP:
-Castlevania compilation (rondo remake, orginal, and SotN) - a great value if you don't have a way to play the original rondo of blood; SotN an added bonus
    -Silent Hill: Origins
-Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - an actually okay port if you don't own a wii/wii u to play the original
    -Corpse Party
-Infected - a third person zombie shooter. I've never played it but I know it exists.
    -Resident Evil/Silent Hill PS1 classics
    -Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins

DS/3DS:
    -Castlevania's
    -Luigi's Mansion
    -Resident Evil: The Mercenaries
    -Resident Evil Revelations
    -Resident Evil Deadly Silence
    -Dementium 1/2
-Dementium Remastered - remake of 1 on 3ds eshop
-Corpse Party - I think this is a remake of the original?
-Soul of Darkness - dsiware; CV clone
-Nanashi no Game - JP DS
    -Spirit Camera

GBC/GBA:
-Castlevania's - there's the crappy GB games or the amazing GBA rpg's
    -Gargoyle's Quest
    -Kid Dracula
    -RE Gaiden
-RE prototype - the hardcore option. I think one version of the rom has been bugfixed so you can get to the final area.
-Silent Hill Play Novel - for the japanese-fluent. I think there was a translated in-browser version of this but I have no idea if it exists still. Not really worth what it costs now. I used a guide on gamefaqs back when I beat it.
    -Alone in the Dark
    -The New Addams Family Series

NGPC:
    Dark Arts: Beast Buster

GameGear:
Vampire: Master of Darkness - an okay CV clone; available on 3ds VC

I'm sure there are more games. I know the Vita has some games but some of those are newer titles.

To add to the list, the NGPC has Dark Arts: Beast Buster. There isn't much else that I can recall on that handheld for horror, but at least we have one!

For the record...only two out of the three GB Castlevania games are bad. Belmont’s Revenge is actually a really solid game. Also, the third level in The Castlevania Adventure is one of the most intense levels in the series. It’s almost worth playing through an otherwise bad Castlevania game just to experience that level.

Soul of Darkness is also a fairly solid DSiWare Castlevania clone. I like to pretend it’s a sequel to Master of Darkness on the Game Gear.

Finally, I think we can add Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins to the PSP list.

I'm planning on playing The New Addams Family Series (awkward title) on the Game Boy Color. I have a European copy and from what I can tell, the American version must be fabulously rare if it was even released.
There's very little that's been written about the game, but it's effectively a point & click adventure with the Addams Family, so I'm on board.

I hear good stuff about nanashi no game for DS, which I believe had a fan translation.

There’s also spirit camera on 3ds, although it’s likely a bit new.

I totally forgot about Corpse Party! I've owned the original for AGES and never played it. This is a great excuse to break out the Vita for the first time in ages~
(especially since Nanashi No Game is proving harder to find than I assumed it would be XP )

I will eagerly await hearing what you think about Corpse Party. I have some strong opinions about it...
